How do you refer to Nesties IRL?

I always get tongue-tied when I talk about something I learned on the nest/bump and people say "oh really, where did you hear that?" I definitely don't want to say "my weird creepy internet friends told me". So what do you say?

I also have been asked how I heard about a business/doctor/etc. In a few instances, I have said "oh, my friend told me about it". Then they say "oh what is their name so we can thank them for their referal." That's when I think "shoot I only know their screenname which means nothing to most people". What do you do in these situations? Or should I just stop referring to you guys as my friends?

i only refer to nesties around DH. everyone else i say "a girl i know told me" or something really vague like that.

As far as how I refer to you, well, that's a good question. I guess I'm kind of like Katie--I really only refer to "nesties" with DH. To other people I think I usually refer to you all as "friends." Friends I've never met in person, yet whose company I enjoy! Big Smile

To my DH I say "the nesties". To my girlfriends I say "the nesties". My girlfriends then normally turn around and say "You mean your online cult." haha. If I were referring to the nest around people who didn't "know" me- I would say "a friend" or "on a local message board."

If it's a office/business asking me, I'll usually say I found it through a web search. If it's a person asking where I'd heard of it, I'll just say "Oh, some friends told me about it". Or sometimes I'll just tell them that I have creepy internet friends and I heard about it from them. People seem pretty accepting of this response and don't usually raise eyebrow. They probably already think i'm weird anyway, so who cares.

My DH, mom, and sister are onto me. I tell them a friend said so, and so. They quickly reply, "oh your nesties." Embarrassed

My IRL friends usually don't ask for a specific name, etc. If they did, I know most people's first name on here, so I would just tell them. If they asked where I know them from, then I would probably say, "we got married around the same time"...and then change the subject. Hee, hee.
