I won't plant yellow and purple pansies again!
The bumble bees are all in love with them (I'm guessing because of their similar coloring) and keep hovering by them. Yikes!!!

Some species of bees are actually endangered. Without bees, there's no pollination, without pollination, there are no fruits & vegetables. The domestic honeybee population has declined 50% in 50 years. Many people, myself included, actually seek out plants that attract bees.
ETA - Isn't it too late for pansies or do they last the summer up there? They only grow during the winters here and die as soon as it gets warm.

I wouldn't mind it if they weren't in the window boxes right by our front door. They aren't honeybees but big 'ol bumble bees that just hover around "staring" at the pretty flowers. Several have gotten in the house already.
Pansies are good here till about Memorial Day and then it's time to put in the summer flowers so they'll be coming out soon anyhow.
My pansies are still going strong. It's really thrown me for a loop this year!
They don't summer in NJ. They die back when it gets hot. I don't remove them from the planter, I just add a few impatients for the summer, and the pansies usually spring back to life in the fall... or they will reseed. They are one of my favorite flowers.
Bumblebees are MAJOR pollinators.
They are very non-agressive.
They are attracted to ALL flowers regardless of color or species.
Fantastic! Give him more flowers and maybe he'll bring a date around.
I've added new flowers around the yard this year. Petunias, annual verbena, cosmos, daylilies, geraniums and vinca. He spent a lot of time on my hydrangeas last year, and those are now blooming pretty strong.
Any other bee friendly plants I should throw in? It would need to be something small. I don't have the room for a Butterfly Bush.
Pentas? Monarda? Salvia?
