Wahhhh! I haz a bladder infection and it hurts.
I woke up this morning with right sided low back pain and pain during voiding. I called the OB office at 8:30 and the triage RN got me in to see the OB at 9:45. Sure enough, he agreed with me.
I have to drink lots of fluids, take my temp 4 times a day and take an antibiotic. I call Monday to check on the culture they are sending out to make sure I am on the correct antibiotic.
He checked the baby out while I was there- heartrate is good (he says the baby sounds like a girl) and my cervix is long and closed. So all is good with Baby JB, just not so much with mama!
I have never had a bladder infection/UTI before. Ohhhheeeeeemgeeee. It hurts.
Re: Wahhhh! I haz a bladder infection and it hurts.
Oh no! I have had my share of those and they suuuuuck. I'm sorry to say, once you get one, you become more prone to them.
Prodium or AZO Standard is your best friend! Don't know if you can take them preggers, but they totally take the pain away. Also try cranberry pills (vitamin section) and drink sugar-free Cranberry juice. Ask the doc.
My favorite antibiotic for this is Macrobid. I had far fewer side effects with this. Again, don't know if it's ok when you're expecting.
Please get better really soon!!!
ouchies!
There's a full strength cranberry juice (no sugar/no extra water...just cranberry) available in the health food aisle at the grocery store...it tastes like bitter nastiness and is pricey - but it helped clear up a suspected uti for me.
Apparently the cranberry juice has components that kill the nasties in the bladder.
Hope you feel better soon!
TTC #1 13 cycles, CP 6/09, TTC #2 1 cycle
CDing, EP'd for 13 months for #1, BFing for #2
Pregnancy Hypertension - inductions at 39w, I grow big babies: DD was 9 pounds 1 ounce 22 inches, DS was 11 pounds even 22 inches - both vaginal deliveries
Ugh, those are really painful! The good news is that antibiotics and cranberry juice should clear it up pretty quickly (from personal experience, at least).
Feel better!!
