Fifth Third River Bank Run

Not sure if anything like this has been asked recently:

I'm interested to see what my fellow GR runners are up to, so if you are running tomorrow at the River Bank Run....

 Which distance did you running?

Is this your first race/first time at the Fifth Third race?

Any tips or advice concerning this specific race?

Thoughts on when to get downtown for parking?

  • I'm sure you probably have seen this

It does give some good recommendations - the ones outside the race course will allow you to leave easier and probably cheaper. Although it is a bit of a walk. If you think you will be up to walk a little bit after the race I would go that route.

What direction will you be coming from? I can see if I can think of any additional ideas.

My recommendation for people is if they are not familiar with downtown than just go with the flow and park in the main lots, even if it cost money. Unless you can navigate your way around easily, now isn't the time to be driving up and down streets. No need to stress yourself before the race.

    Good luck!

Ha!  I was fairly familiar with downtown and thought I'd be smart and park for free in GV's lot (which didn't charge on Saturdays).  Turns out that lot was right on the course for the 25k.  I ran the 5k and they closed the road right as I was getting to my car.  So...I got to cheer on 25k finishers for the next hour or so.

  • Which distance did you running? 25K

Is this your first race/first time at the Fifth Third race? 2nd time, first time on the "real" course since it was changed last year due to flooding.

Any tips or advice concerning this specific race?  Start slow and HAVE FUN!

Thoughts on when to get downtown for parking? We're arriving around 6:45 - 7:00

  • I'm running 25K.

This will be my 3rd year.

Don't stress--there will be massive crowds at the start. Don't rush--there are a lot of miles to cover. Have fun! Enjoy the scenery, crowds, just the *run* for the sake of running.

We're scheduled to meet our running group at 7am, so DH and I (and a friend) will leave our house about 30min before that.

    Have a good run!
