So I'm making this chicken recipe tonight & it calls for 4 chicken breasts halved crosswise.
What does that mean? Am I just cutting the breast in half or should I be trying to fillet a chicken breast?
ETA: I googled it, but I didn't really find an answer.
Re: Help! Cooking ?
What is the recipe for?
Maybe it means crosswise as opposed to lengthwise. So if a chicken breast is like a rectangle you would cut it into 2 squares instead of two skinny rectangles??? That is just a guess.

Also, this is why I try to avoid cookbooks without pictures.
I *think* the chicken is usually fileted for this dish, so that is what I would probably do. Forget the rectangles and squares I was rambling about above!
In a pan with oil. 3 mins per side. Remove, make sauce. Put chicken back in sauce & cook until done aprox. 5 mins.
I think PP is right about filleting.
