I have been on the knot...particularly the DW board for like 8 hrs...just from last night and today at work!! WTF??? lol
I am now thinking about OOT bags, welcome letters, making him wear a khaki linen suit vs just khakis and a white button up, making my reception beach themed...omg the knot is sucking my brain out!
As far as colors go, Im thinking lilac for the beach...what do you think would be good with that? Idk why but I was kinda thinking lime green...you guys wont hurt my feelings
Re: omg brain overload!
I had fun doing the OOT bags and my guests loved them.
I think lime green would be fine on the beach. I always think white and khaki for a beach theme...lots of white flowing fabrics.
Keep in mind a linen suit is going to look like he rolled around in bed before coming to the wedding probably within 5 min of him putting it on. Linen wrinkles horribly!
I can't imagine a beach wedding without the groom in linen. I like the linen suit idea actually.
As for the colors, I think the lime green and lilac could work. I've seen other green and purple combos that worked out. The boldness of the lime green and the softness of the lilac seems like a good compliment. This might sound silly, but go to Home Depot or Lowe's and check out their paint swatch area. It helps you visualize colors together. It really helped me.
OOT bags are cool, but can be really simple if you make them, too.
You love purple girl, go for it. Here's my bouquet, and I did a mixture of everything purple and green. Just found my wedding bid request for flowers -
here's the flowers I used - for my bouquet
Purple Hydrangea, Purple Lisianthus, Kiwi Green Cymbidium Orchids, Purple/Lavender Roses, Purple Mini Calla Lilies, Green Hypericum Berries and Green Dendrobium Orchids with stems wrapped with Eggplant Ribbon.
BMs bouquets using: Purple and Green flowers with a hint of Lavender with flowers including Purple Stock, Green Button Mums, Green Bells of Ireland and Purple and Jade Roses.
Then the centerpieces
Your wedding was just beautiful!!!!
My sister is very artsy and when I moved out to go to college, she re-did my old room in lilac and lime green. It sounded awful to me- but it looks incredible together. I think that with a sandy backdrop would be beautiful!
My wedding was kind of a DW too- not overseas but we all traveled. The one thing I wished for my OOT bags after the fact was that they had been fully closed and stackable! I used sand pails, which were lots of fun- but transporting them was a PITA. Since everyone was from OOT (just like yours will be) I needed something sizeable... I would order boxes if I were to do it again.
I LOVE Krystal's flowers. So beautiful. Those are great colors.
I have to agree that linen looks great but it wrinkles so easily. One of my best friends wears one sometimes and he always looks so crazy wrinkly within an hour, so be careful.
OMG I would LOVE that!!
I was a DW regular back in the day- I LOVE that board! You have to do some sort of OOT bag. That was a HUGE hit at our wedding and since we bought everything in bulk they cost almost nothing. Also a list of what cabin everyone is in is so helpful in cruise weddings.
I did all the traditions DW stuff- OOT bags, fan programs, message in a bottle invites, bright colors, etc. If you're curious what the whole linen thing looks like you can sneak a peak at my married bio and then my planning bio for all the beach-y stuff.
ETA: My colors were lavender, green, aqua, hot pink, and orange. For a beach wedding bright vibrant colors really work well! I had hot pink and orange flowers, the girls wore green and purple, and the guys wore the blue. It looked really cool when mixed with all the natural tropical colors of Jamaica. So lime and lilac would be awesome!
