What color should I paint my bedroom?

I have this bedding set. http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?GrpTyp=STY&ItemID=1706a8f&Nao=0&hdnOnGo=true&Ne=4+6+1031+8+18+904+949+833&Ntt=tranquil&SearchString=tranquil&N=4294959029&SO=0&PSO=0&CmCatId=searchresults

My carpets are blue, and the room is very large.  I also have to paint my dresser and nightstands, so the colors are up for the taking.  Any suggestions?

Also, I haven't made curtains yet, so suggestions for that will be appreciated.

Re: What color should I paint my bedroom?

  • Hmmm, I'd stick with a nice, light gray color.

But I tend to want to paint with neutral colors and add brighter colors with accent pieces, like pillows.

  • I think a light gray with a darker gray accent wall.

And keep furniture a white color

  • I'd go with a blue/grey like:

and if you have to paint the dresser, I'd do white.

  • I just realized the link was to the tan bedding set.  I have the blue/chocolate one.

I was thinking of a super dark brown or a taupe - similar to the trim in the bedding.

I want to do the super dark brown, but i'm a little scared of it as well.

What about a dark chocolate colored accent wall (maybe the wall the bed will be against) and taupe for the rest?  Then paint the dresser to match the chocolate wall.  Then I'd get some funky patterned curtains in coordinating colors.

What about Behr's Chocolate Froth? I actually have this in my hallway, and I love it.

I'm not a huge fan of dark paint colors unless there is plenty of natural light and it's a large room.

I like this.  The room is pretty large.  If I have another baby I'm going to put a wall in it, and have the nursery in 1/2 of the room.  I have the popcorn ceiling, and i'm not going to scrape it off right now.  I don't want to paint it, because it makes it harder to remove.  I"m afraid the dark would look weird with a white ceiling.  I think I'll buy those tester pods this week, and put a few colors up.
