We had a realtor come over today to take a look at our house and she said "Well it is very yuppy....and that is what is selling."  Ha ha ha.  I wasn't sure how to take that.

    I'd be taken aback. To me it seems like she was saying: 'I don't like it, but potential buyers right now will.' She could have just said: 'this is what today's buyers are looking for.'

    yes, I think you are so right.  She was the actually the seller's agent when we bought the house, and we have made A LOT of changes...so perhaps she liked the home better before....

    I would have been insulted! It seems like when people say "yuppy" it's most often an insult, she should have definitely phrased it differently..

    That's an odd comment.  I'm not sure it was terribly professional but at least it sounds like your house will sell well on the market. Good luck.

    I agree she wasn't very tactful in choosing in her words, but at least the bottom line is that she thinks it will be a popular house!

    That is really weird and unprofessional. I would be insulted as well. And FWIW, from all of the pictures we have seen of your house, I would not describe it as yuppy at all. I wonder if she even knows what that means! hahaha

    Well we are thinking about it.  We bought in 2005 though.  We had a couple of agents come over to take a look, and they are supposed to get back to us with what they think our property could sell for.

    I agree with the PPs, that is a very odd and unnecessary comment.  At least it sounds like it will sell if you need it to.
