1st Anniversary Ideas

My DH and I are trying to decide what to do on our 1 year Anniversary on June 6th. We are trying not to spend too much but would like to do something special together. We live in the Cincinnati area and it would be a Sunday the place would need to be open. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Re: 1st Anniversary Ideas

  • Since we got married in a park, we invited our wedding party back to the park for an impromptu picnic. My H surprised me by making some extra effort and putting out white tableclothes, stringing up some lights, and putting votives from our wedding all around. Made it really special. It was like a little mini-wedding reception re-do with all our besties. :)
  • How about going to see The Fantasticks at the Playhouse in the Park (there are shows at 2pm & 7pm) and then having a picnic dinner in the park.  You could also go to The Celestial for desert.

You could also go to the Sheperd Fairey exhibit at the CAC and then do happy hour (which is 7 days a week!) at Palomino's. they have half price drinks and apps all day.

You could do your own progressive night out. Go one place for drinks, another for an app, then to dinner, then desert. Downtown, Mariemont, Covington would all be great areas for this. That way it's a whole night out and you are getting to try all different places!  Maybe even tell each one it's your 1st anniversary to see how much free stuff you can get ;)

Another of my favorite things to do is to take a picnic and champagne to one of the parks- Devou and Ault are my faves. Cheap, romantic, and fun on a warm, non rainy night.

  • We went out to Chateau Pomije in Indiana (about 45 minutes from Downtown Cincy) and had dinner and a wine tasting.  It was really fun and the food was yummy.  It was nice to "get away" but not really have to spend money to go anywhere fancy.  It is really pretty out there and they have a patio so you can eat outside.
