Did you get step-siblings when "older"??

So, my mom has been seeing a guy for about 3 years. I just met his daughter and grandkids this year. The daughter just moved to our area about a month ago. I didn't think to invite them to our Mother's Day cook out with my mom and DH's family, but now I kind of feel like I'm obligated to now that she lives in the area.

How do you handle getting new "family" <- I guess that's what she would end up being if my mom's SO would ever consider remarrying.

Re: Did you get step-siblings when "older"??

 • I might just throw the invitation out there when doing things as a whole "family." That way it eliminates any possibility of any drama of not feeling included, etc.

 • My Dad re-married about 10 or so years ago (I was early 20s). She is not my step-mom, she is my Dad's wife. I just would feel weird about her or her step kids being called step-mom or step-siblings, as we have our own families. I invite her to things, but not her kids, but they also do not live anywhere near me.
