NER AW - finally got a job!!
I finally got a job out here! Woohoo!!
It's not a permanent thing, more of a long term contact assignment, but it works out well for me. All the jobs I want won't look at my resume until I pass the CA bar, and I won't know that until the end of November, so this will keep me occupied until then.
I will be working at a small law firm handling union issues. I know nothing about labor unions, so this will be a good complement to my background in employment law.
I start on Monday, so you will be seeing a lot less of me on the Nest for a while.
Re: NER AW - finally got a job!!
Yeah!!! That's wonderful news!!!
I'm getting the same pushback about jobs and bar results too...boo!
Congratulations!!!
YAY!!!! For the job

BOO!!!! For you being on the nest less
It is so frustrating. Hopefully good luck will come your way soon too!
I have heard that January is prime job hunting season for lawyers. Lots of movement with people leaving after they get their bonuses, and/or quitting over frustration of having to cancel holiday plans because of work. Throw in the elections and changes in government at all levels, and you've got a lot of switching around. So, I'm hoping that there'll be lots of opportunities for permanent stuff then.
Yay, employement! Congratulations!
I am a runner, knitter, scientist, DE-IVF veteran, and stage III colon cancer survivor.
Thank you! Me too!
Thanks for the Jan. tip!
Congrats, ESF! Sorry to hear we won't be seeing as much of you, but glad you've found something!
Congratulations!
Union work is very different from employment law. If you don't already have experience, I think you will be shocked at how antiquated some of the law is. I actually found it to be quite frustrating because union workers can get away will all sorts of shenanigans and employers frequently are helpless. I forgot to mention my unhappy union work as part of the reason I turned to the dark side of politics. ;-)
ditto this. We'll miss you when you're not around!
Congrats!
And good luck to the others looking for jobs. I had a helluva time finding a job, even after being admitted. Job hunting sucks. Job getting rules!
Yay, congrats! Will you be dealing with the entertainment unions (AEA, SAG, AFTRA, AGMA, AGVA, IATSE) at all? Those are the only ones I know, and I just figured, ya know, California...
Congrats again!
