Ok so we have 4 kids, 3 step kids and 1 that lives here full time 2, 6, 13 and 15. They all like to play video games, and with me not working for the last 7 months Christmas isn't going to be HUGE this year. Would it be totally off to one big present say a WII for all the kids this year? Any suggests or flames are accepted I'm opened to ideas
Re: Kids Christmas
I think that would be an awesome present - I think it might be easier for other people that might have to buy gifts for the kids - maybe they could buy a game for the Wii instead of gifts for each kid (if that's how your family does things?).
The only bad thing I can think of is the potential fighting over who gets to play it first on Christmas day...
I think it is a wonderful idea. My brother and I used to get 1 big gift together and a few small gifts.
My husband and I are getting a Wii from his parents as our gift! I can't wait!!!
that's what we're thinking of doing too. and getting my little sisters & brother in law games for theirs. just rock, paper, scissor to see who goes first.
Growing up, my sister and I never did huge christmases. We just got a few meaningful things each and spent a lot of time together as a family. I attribute that (among other things) to the fact that my sister and I are the least materialistic people you will ever meet
I think the wii is a great joint gift for the kids! FYI... a wii only comes with one controller, one nunchucku, and it comes with a game called Wii Sports. The extra controller is $35 and I think the nunchucku is like $19 and both are neccesary for most games.
The GREAT thing is, a lot of really fun games can have up to 4 players at one time. Wii Sports has tennis, bowling, boxing, and golf and you can play up to 4 people at once.
I also have Wario Ware Smooth Moves and Ray Man Attack of the Rabbids, and they can play up to 4 players (with WWSM, you have to beat single mode before you can play multiplayer unfortunately, but the single mode can easily be played by a group of people... thats what dh and I do). Then of course, classics like Mario Party and Mario Kart are GREAT for the wii (super popular), and they're 4 player games. HTH!!!
PS- fyi: Wii Sports came with the console (as in, we didn't play extra for it), and it has probably provided dh and me the most long term enjoyment. I thought you might want to know that if/when you're picking out games and stuff. I just suggest starting to look for one now! They're expecting another shortage this winter.
We have a Wii and love it. I think it sounds like a great gift.
I have a neice who was 3 when we got the Wii. We strap the controller to her wrist when someone else is playing. She thinks she is playing and there aren't any issues. I would splurge for some extra controllers. Also, check ebay for used games and controllers.
If you want to buy used games, I suggest going to a Gamestop or Electronics Boutique (EB Games). They have a lot of great deals going on - 2 weeks ago when dh and I bought our wii, they had a buy two used games, get one free sale going on. I feel like they might be more trustworthy than a website, and you won't have to pay shipping...
I'm pretty sure there is no way to copy games. Also, I am not the big gamer my husband is, so I don't mind renting them for a few days. I rarely finish a game the whole way through. It works well for me.
