Clicky Poll: silly question re: moving (sort of)

That's right. The board is dead again today, so you guys get to decide on silly things for me. LOL.

So, DH & I have already found a house that we both LOVE. Yep, made that mistake of starting to look before we had all of our ducks in a row.

The realtor came last week to discuss our listing options for selling our current home.

DH is calling the bank today to discuss our loan options.

At work we have all kinds of cardboard boxes that need to be cleared out. I can either throw them away, or take them home so we have them for our (hopefully) impending move.[Poll]

  • You are probably getting ahead of yourself but if you have the room for some of the boxes (broken down of course) then I say go ahead. But if they take up too much room in the basement, they are going to hurt you when showing the house because people will think you have no storage space. Hard to answer.

Growing on this theme, they could also make it appear that you're in a hurry to move/sell and make it harder for you to negotiate to what you're comfortable with. You know, you'd look desperate.

But the type-A-er in me REALLY wants to tell you to go for it and start packing all your Winter stuff that you won't need for 6 more months. You have no idea how it pains me to say 'hold off'.

  • Go for it,  Start packing- worse come to worse, you throw them out as originally would have happened.  Perhaps you could pack up a few boxes and store them elsewhere (friend/ relatives garage, barn, basement, not crammed full storage unit).  Might stink to move things twice, but at least you will be packed.

  • I would totally take the boxes...we just got our offer accepted last night and I'm already thinking of looking for boxes at the office. As long as you have a place to put them, I'd grab the boxes while they're available.
