I'm a bridesmaid...this is the dress style

This is for the bride with the gorgeous ballgown I posted earlier this week.

I can choose from about 15 styles in cobalt blue, chiffon, knee length.   All of them are strapless, halter, or spaghetti strap.  (no room for a regular supportive bra)

I have a year to look like this:

Too bad I currently look like this:

I have tree trunk legs, HUGE boobs (like so huge they don't make strapless bras in this size), and a belly that needs sturdier fabric than chiffon.

Crying

I told the bride that I will do my best, but she can't be mad if I look horrible.

The next biggest bridesmaid (in our group) is a size 12/14.  My only hope is to lose the baby weight + 50 pounds by then and be a size 20/22.  I will stick out.  I hate that feeling.

I will be there on her wedding day, I will wear a dress that she wants, and I will smile.

Re: I'm a bridesmaid...this is the dress style

  • On a good note, you do have the hand on the hip look down perfect!

Wow-it's only in a 12/14 at the largest size? That seems odd.  And I think she can't be mad if you don't fit in it... esp since she asked you to be in her wedding... Is there any possibility they can order material and have it made?  That being said, I went from an 18/20 to a 10/12 in about 6 months with WW and walking-about 5 years ago, so-if it's what you want to do, then go for it!

I do think the dress is pretty and LOVE the blue!

  • Don't stress too bad.  You have to worry about that baby of yours!  Like Lore said, walking is an AWESOME way to loose the baby weight.  Sadie HATES being in her car seat/stroller, but when we get moving she is as happy as can be!

I love the color of the dress and you will do it!! Good luck girl!!!

  • The dress is pretty . . . but I totally understand where you are coming from.  No pressure, right?
  • Just start walking with Chiclet in the stroller or a carrier once he or she arrives...the pounds should melt away.  (I can't remember if you're planning on BFing, but supposedly that helps too and I know WW has a plan for BFing mothers).

And you could be as lucky as me- the shortest and roundest member of my sister's BP (and that was before I was pregnant).  And I have to be ready for that six weeks after JB's due date.

  • Thank you for the vote of confidence gals!  I appreciate it.

Oh yes...I hope to breatfeed, so that should help.

I'm just feeling defeated b/c i did the WW thing for about 3 years total since college - and it was a yo-yo-gain the whole way.  the only time I lost weight was when i was on phentermine...then I gained it all back once i stopped the meds.  Doc wants me to do gastric bypass...i'm not ready for that yet.

Just having a mopey defeated day.

  • I think if the bride asked you to be in the wedding she isnt going to care the size dress you wear.  I believe if she is that good of a friend she just wants you there.  That said, I am the biggest of all my friends so I know how you feel.  Would it be possible to wear a wrap so that you can have a more supportive bra on underneath.

This... and the wrap idea is fab!   I think it's all about the attitude some times, too!

  • I wouldnt lose hope yet! Especially if you plan to BF! My sister lost a ton of weight fast doing that.

And I am a huge supporter of WW! I lost about 40-50 pounds on it and I have a freind that lost 100 and has kept it off!

I hear ya about the yo yo thing, You just gotta count every single point. Which sucks. But yea. I just kept a little journal with me and recorded everything.

You will be beautiful no matter what! Plus, you can always have thicker straps added to ANY dress. I was jsut in a wedding and one of the girls had thicker straps added due to her ginormous bitties and no one knew she had them added but the bride and BM's

  • It stinks that she couldn't pick a style that is more flattering (and comfortable!!) for the big-boobed! Blue is a lovely color, though! I'm in a wedding this summer, and the dress style is very pretty, but the color is NOT. A weird brownish green that is sort of shiny.

Anyway, don't sweat it - put a pretty smile on your pretty face and you'll be fine :)
