Impending blindness is bringing out a whole new side
to my mom. First she has NEVER flown in her life. She went to NYC with my sister. And then she hasn't driven since she was 15. She would refuse and get bad at us for bringing it up it. Somehow my sister talked her into it. There is a video of my mom in a parking lot driving her car. This is so awesome...I just wish she did it about 20 years ago.
Background for those who don't know, my mom was diagnosed with macular degentration last summer. Slowly she will lose a portion of her eye sight.
Re: Impending blindness is bringing out a whole new side
exactlly. Luckily she has the slow progessing kind of MD. She had her eyes checked out last week and the doctor said her eye really haven't changed since last year, which is great. Even if things happen in five years, I'm hoping she does more in the next few years than she would have otherwise.
She really does have a great attitude about this.
I told her that I want to do something with her that is on her bucket list. Brian told me to bring her to male strippers.
Hee hee at Brian.
Good for your mom! That's got to be awesome for you to observe.
That's great for your mom! GV, I remember when you told us about that last year. How incredibly scary and sad. I can't imagine what that's like to know you're going to lose your sight at some point. I'm glad your mom is making the most of her current vision! Who knows, in 5-10 years they might have some medical break throughs!
Oh yeah, if you get your mom a stripper, can we do a nestie outing for it? I've never seen one. Hehehe!!!
My grandfather has had MD for a few years now -- at least 5. He's starting to loose vision to the point that he can't read anymore.
I think it takes great courage to face that disease.
I was told it's heriditary, and you should follow a vitamin regimene to prevent/delay this. Something you'll want to keep in mind for yourself and your little ones.
I have some pictures, double password-protected, on my website from my best friend's bachelorette party. Hot male stripper in a party bus=good times!
