Just saw a baby faced kid covered with tattoos

At Panera.  He had the full, wrap around leg sleeves on both legs, both arms, and at least one wrist.  He looked like he was 13.  Seriously, the kid had peach fuzz on his pimple-free face.  His mom made him go up to the counter and trade in his baguette for an apple.

Please tell me that the kid was wearing some really good fake tattoos.

Re: Just saw a baby faced kid covered with tattoos

  • Hopefully he's just one of those really, really young-looking early 20's people.

I have tattoos and there is no way I will allow my kids to get them prior to 18.  Once they're 18 they are welcome to alter their bodies in whatever way suits them.

  • Hate to tell you it may very well be real tats and he very well may be that young...

Remember I teach mainly 14 & 15 year olds, right?

One year I had a student who got a tat for his 16th birthday (close to the end of the year).  The tat was his last name spelled out up & down his arm.  It was his FIFTH tattoo!!!  And what's worse?  His name was crooked and the block letters were different sizes...

  • Kel-Well at least this kid's leg tats looked nice-as nice as they can on a kid!!

Don't minor's need their parent's permission to get tats & piercings?  And don't some tattoo parlors refuse to do minors?   I guess piercings aren't so bad b/c most will just leave a little hole or scar but a tat is pretty much forever.  Teens are so fickle-that cool tat will be so yesterday in a few years.

I guess I should tell my parents that they really weren't square and boring for making us wait until we were 18 do do permanent stuff to our bodies.

  • My understanding is they have to have parental consent.  I saw a former student of mine who I believe is now either junior or a senior with a tattoo on her bicep (that'll look great with a strapless wedding gown, don't ya think?) AND a tramp stamp.

Now, what you do to your body is your business... but I have a hard time believing her parents let her get the tramp stamp...  (she's a really good kid who was scared sh*tless of her parents as a freshman!)

  • I just had to share that I was walking around Newport on the Levee last Summer and I saw a mom and her daughter (she had to be around 7 or 8 years old) talking about which fake tattoo the little girl was going to get on her lower back...yep, a fake tramp stamp.  I guess it's good that it was fake, but really???
