New Miss America Intro Shots...

Re: New Miss America Intro Shots...

  • I'm not one to say "That is inappropriate".....but it's a Miss America pageant, not "America's Next Victoria Secret Model"....get some clothes on, then do boudoir pics after you get kicked out for doing drugs...
  • Before I click, should I assume it's not work-safe content?

Will do - thanks. I'll get back to ya. :)

  • I think they are beautiful photos but Miss America...not so much. With that being said I know they are trying to get away from the stuffy pagent image and really make it new and relevant, I'm just not sure that this is the way to do it.

  • I just saw these last night and have been thinking about them all morning.  I don't follow Miss America much now, but I did a lot when I was in Jr. High and High School.  I think that's why I had a strong reaction against them.  America's standard of beauty and sexuality is hard enough on kids as it is (on many adults too, actually)... and I fear this sends one more message that this is what they're supposed to be.  I think the shots are tasteful as far as  underwear shoot go, but I'm just not sure it's the right place for them.

They look like pinup girls. What happened to being role models??

  • I just saw some highlight clips on Yahoo News - I think that they are done tastefully and there is no denying that they are really beautiful photos.  However, if they're trying to promote the pageant as wholesome good old American tradition, I think that this is waaaaaay out in left field.  Given the context of the competition, I think that they are not appropriate.
  • Having a daughter, I say, totally not cool. It stresses sexuality, not being a well rounded person. It was bad enough when she was six and wanted to be Brittney Spears, and trying to keep her in her pants as a teen is tricky. No thank you! There just aren't enough role models out there as it is, and now do you really want your daughter to grow up and bare it all, in the name of representing our country? Not so much.....
  • I heard about this on the radio this morning, but just saw the pics. I definitely think they're a bit racy, but to be fair... it isn't Miss America pagent, which has always gone for the more a wholesome, girl-next-door, image. Miss Universe is owned by Trump and done in Vegas, and has always been more focused on sexuality than charity and scholarships, I think. I still don't think it's a positive thing though.

Oh, my mistake... that makes more sense... I was thinking they were the same thing -- totally forgot they were two different pagents.  I still don't like it but it makes more sense.

  • I don't think they should have been used for Miss America...they are a little to racy for that. Especially after the big stink with Carrie Prejean (sp?) and how her racy pics came out. The first pic they came out with was just like those ones....until the rest came out!

Can I just say that is how I WISHED my bpics came out haaha

  • I'm torn.  I understand that it's Trump's pageant, but the girls are still *supposed* to be stand-up, role model citizens.  I started watching the pageants with my sister when I was six years old.  It's something Iook forward to sharing with my daughter some day.  But if I had a young daughter now, I would not let her see those pictures, and I would seriously consider whether I would want her to see the pageant at all.
