Apparently she texted my manager to say she was going to be out and the
text didn't go through. Of course we can't prove this, but WTF. WHO
TEXTS TO SAY THEY'RE NOT COMING IN?! We text to say we're running late
all the time, but that just reeks of immaturity to me.
She's not getting fired, she's getting her raise. My manager is too
afraid of being short handed to do anything. He said, "I don't know why
I'm so lenient with her" and I said, "ME NEITHER."
She's here now and she just asked me a stupid question and I was mean
and told her she needed to start thinking things through herself because
I won't be here in three weeks to think for her.
She's hiding in the store now.
Re: No show update
BL does. She does it all.the.time. when she's not gonna be in, or late. And she texts ME, not even HER boss, she texts ME for ME to tell HER boss (he's OUR boss, but still). I have NO authority over her, but whatevs. She even requested that I text her when I'll be out, or late, etc. because "It's easier". Oooookay, I never knew it being very professional to text your boss to say "Hey I'm not gonna be in today", but whatevs, saves me from having to listen to her whine when/if I do need to be out.
For real, Sheri?! That's insane. Yes, if your boss says to text than go ahead and do it. J's company has a "sick hotline" that's a voicemail for people to call in but he's actually supposed to e-mail when he's going to be sick.
I can't believe that lady is YOUR boss. I would stage a coup.
I'd have her prove that she text (on her phone). That just stinks-but yah that you're only 3 weeks more to go!
I can't do that (texting thing) cause my BL doesn't get all of my texts. She's more into the emails, but I wouldn't email her to call out sick, either.
Putting on my "Employment Law Firm HR Hat" - your company is setting itself up for a lawsuit...either with her or another employee. If you are not this lenient in the future or with another employee, you risk discrimination or wrongful termination suits. Don't set lenient precedents!
I would write up a policy and distribute it ASAP.
Aria, I told my manager if I was the boss boss (he handles all HR stuff since we're tiny), she'd be out on her azz or at least have a formal reprimand. He's all, "Well, I didn't say they couldn't text . . ."
I'm sorry, you need to tell not to be irresponsible freak shows?
This.
I text the other therapist if I'm running late in the morning so she knows that I'm on my way.
If I'm not coming in- I call her and speak to her or leave her a voicemail. I want some kind of record that she was informed. And I always do it as soon as I know I won't be there either on time or at all.
