Clicky Poll: WWYD? a little long

Dh and I have 2 free airline tickets from United, have a year to use them and can fly anywhere in the continental U.S. (no Alaska/Hawaii).

Of course, dh and I have semi-different opinions on how to use these tickets.

Although I have some convincing arguments, he is more leaning towards using the free tickets to save us money for two trips later in the year to SC and FL.   I look at these tickets as a way to save a little to get to a destination that we don't get to yearly (we go to SC & FL at least once a year). In my case, we would pay for tickets beyond the continental U.S.

A few things to know before deciding on your vote;
- SC trip is not 100% definite yet, it's for a wedding (weekend trip) and location is still up in the air and if it does take place in SC we can drive if need be.
- FL trip is 100% definite, it's a cruise with friends for a week
- We have a rough plan to go to Hawaii in 2012 for our 5 year Anniversary
- We would be staying with friends in Australia
- No perk/plan for Europe, just go where ever we could get the cheapest ticket from a major Hub (JFK, Washington D.C. area, ATL, etc...).

  •  I voted for CA tix, then buy for Australia because I would think that would be the most expensive trip and those few dollars might really help out.

    This exactly!

    Ditto.

Also, I wouldn't use it to fly to JFK, etc. for Europe. Those flights are usually pretty inexpensive but NY to CA is typically a bit pricey.

  • Hahaha!  I just talked to DH, we are buying plane tickets for FL tonight, since the airline is offering great prices and non-stop flights.

    Another point for me!

  • I guess lately i have been in the "live in the now" kind of attitude and even though the other trips are great goals, i would use the free tickets now! You never know what can happen in the next few years, positive or negative when you wished you would have saved the money now.

I get that tickets to Europe from a major hubs are cheap, but ROC is not a major hub and it would cost us a few extra hundred $ to get to Europe from ROC then it would say JFK.  So if we used the free ticket to JFK, then we could buy a "cheap" ticket to Europe from JFK.

  • I was thinking it wouldn't be worth it for Florida since you can usually find those tixs pretty cheap.  I would use it towards a bigger trip, whatever it may be.

oops...What I meant was the tickets from ROC to JFK are pretty cheap, not ROC to the EU. :)  So I say ROC to CA over ROC to JFK, just because I think it'll be the better "deal", KWIM?

I get what your saying. I do though look at it slightly different depending on which destination we pick, but it doesn't matter.  Thanks for your opinion!

Also this.... As much as I would LOVE to go to Europe, the free tix aren't enough to make me choose now bc the tix from around here to NYC are like $99. Don't waste free tix on $99!!!

If it were me, I'd go to Vegas! lol

Baby, you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales...
