Chocolate Mexican Wedding Cookies?

Anyone have a great recipe for Chocolate Mexican Wedding Cookies? I have been asked to make 200 for a wedding rehearsal dinner! Thank you!!!

Re: Chocolate Mexican Wedding Cookies?

  • i've never heard of chocolate ones, and I'm mexican. Hmmm. We usually have the sugar ones we call pan de polvo. If you're making pan be polvo, I'll be happy to taste test for you. Wink
  • I hadn't heard of them before either! I went to a local bakery here in town and tried them. I wasn't impressed with the ones they sold. I am going to make a few different batches and try them out. I have found recipes online but would love to try a recipe from someone I "know"! :)

I will sacrifice myself to be your official guinea pig for these new ventures into Chocolate Mexican Wedding Cookies.  I love wedding cookies, you know.  You bust 'em out, I'll chow 'em down.  I know how you don't like chocolate!!!!

  • I've made this recipe quite a few times (but with hazelnuts, maybe not so authentic) - I would assume you could put some cocoa powder in with the dry ingredients to make it chocolate?

  • I'm mexican too and never had or seen chocolate ones.... I'm interested to hear if you find a recipe though.  I love just the plain wedding cookies!  :)

  • maybe you could offer to dip one side of the cookie in melted chocolate... which sounds divine to this pregnant girl but probably not to the baker who is making 200 of them!  :)

I bet my mom has a recipe for these.  She's Mexican and pan de polvo is one of her specialties (along with the best tamales you've ever tasted. Ever!)

Let me know if you want me to e-mail it to you.

  • MrsAJL...I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to try her recipe! :) My email is TxGolfGal@aol.com!!

Ok!  I'll talk to her this evening and e-mail you the recipe. Are the cookies for this weekend?

  • No, they are for the following weekend...I just wanted to try out a few recipes (Joyco can be my tester) ahead of time! :)

  • I've never heard of chocolate mexican wedding cookies--sounds tasty!  I have my mom's recipe for the regular ones, if you want it--they're the best I've ever tasted (and not just because she's my mom!).

    :-)
