My middle sister graduates from Medical School this weekend. I'm ridiculously proud of her and want to get her something to commemorate the occasion. Originally I thought I'd get her some art to remember her time in the town she went to school at but it turns out that its not really a photogenic place or one that inspired someone to sit and paint a masterpiece. :-P
If you were getting something for someone who has been working their hind end off for the last 4 years to be the best dang doctor on the planet, what would you pick?? She gave me some ideas and all of them are terribly practical. That is fine for a birthday or Christmas but this just seems like something bigger. (she seriously asked for a toaster ladies. You can't get a new doctor a toaster for graduation.
)
Art glass? Some sort of serving piece for the swank parties she'll have when she's not hopelessly in debt from all the school? A set of wine glasses? Need ideas if you've got 'em.
Re: If you were going to be a doctor...
Munkii has good ideas. I was also just surfing etsy for some medical themed gifts - they have some medical themed jewelry and art for sale, this is kind of neat (although I don't love the chain):

I totally hear ya on this one but unfortunately pens have been my signature gift for a while so everyone I know has one already. I gave my sisters both "power pens" as a thank you for being part of my wedding. It isn't a Mont Blanc or anything but it is still pretty darn cool. My pen guy went out of biz this year but he rocked. We still email back and forth!
oooh, liking the massage idea. That could work!
I know she asked for a toaster but it just seems so finite. My other sister is getting her a coffee maker so I guess I just want her to not feel like she's getting appliances!
Oh they totally are! I *think* that her program stipulates that they need a certain PDA that runs their software but I can check.
FUN!! I didn't even think about Etsy!
