  • When we were looking for a new place - closet space was the biggest discussion..

So the master bedroom walk in is all mind Big Smile

and he has a huge closet system in the bedroom separately.

    ?
  • In our current house... (750 sq ft bungalow) FI has the coat closet...LOLOL.  I get the walk in in the MB and the closet in the office.

In the new house... he will get the equivelant of the coat closet, but it will atleast be in our bedroom...I will get 2 closests in the extra bedrooms, and wall to wall/floor to ceiling 12 foot long closests in the MB.

Maybe he'll be able to put stuff in the office closet. I was floored by the amount of closet space in the new house since the house was built in 1840.

  • We have a walk through closet going from our bedroom to the bathroom, so there is space on each side, one side for each of us.  We also split the dresser drawers evenly, but my stuff has managed to migrate into one of his drawers.  :)

    Anniversary
  • I have more room to hang stuff, but my closet also stores a bunch of non-clothes stuff too
  • I voted 60/40 me, but we have 6 huge walkin closets and its just the 2 of us.  So I'm not really sure how you would divide that but I have way more clothes and shoes.

  • Special Snowflake.  :)  This was another thing that really bugged me about my marriage.  I wasn't allowed in the closet for the first year and a half.  It wasn't until about 6 months ago when Rocky decided to Good Will a bunch of his clothes and gave me about 1/8 of the hanger space.  And this was a walk in closet.  Until then all my stuff was in the spare room.  So my answer is- none of it, but I wanted it, dammit!
  • I voted 60/40 & I get more. That's because I have more clothes than Ted. He has a lot of shorts & tshirts that are folded and put away. I have more hanging clothes.
  • we have a walk in closet so her gets one side and i get mine. very nice, even though i need more room!

  • There are two small-ish (huge for NYC, small for the 'burbs) walk in closests in our master bedroom. Alex has the larger. Why? Because Mr. Choo is a clothing wh0re. His stuff also occupies 80% of our pantry (office supplies) and 70% of our coat closet.

This is why we need to move. We are bursting out of our apartment!

  • 50/50... I don't know why/how that happened, because it def. seems like I deserve more :)
  • None of the above.

We each have our own walk in closets, but I do have all the linens in mine...

  • We split it 50/50, but I also have a separate dresser and he does not (he just keeps drawers in his side of the closet and uses the shelves.
  • It's definately 80-20 me.  Aaron didn't really put up an arguement though.  He knows how many clothes / shoes / purses I have.  I think since we've started living together he knows that me downsizing much isn't in his best interest if he wants me ready in a timely manner.  On my bloat / period days (like today) if I didn't have options and the space to visualize my options I'd probably start crying b/c I can't fit / don't look good in anything and crawl back into bed.

    WOW!  Talk about selfish!

  • neither - we both have walk ins in our master bedroom. i have the bigger of the two.  i do, however, also use both closets in two of the guest bedrooms - and he has one closet in the other guest bedroom.
  • I chose the bottom one because none of them apply to us.  I get the entire closet...it's very small.  And DH gets the two dressers.

well I def don't feel so bad now. I have about 80% plus the closet in the office for my shoes. After reading your responses, he'll survive with what he's got. The boy does have his own man cave. He can keep his clothes in the garage if he really needs that much room for 47 flannel's.

  • I think I'm the only one who doesn't have most of the space.  I chose 80/20 him because I've always just used a dreseser.  There's a few coats and dresses in the closet but other than that not much.
  • We split our bedroom walk in, but I also have clothes hanging in our spare bedroom and take up about 3/4 of our front coat closet.  When we buy a house, big closets are a must!
