Re: Sweet Tea Shirts

  • Although you are a Yankee by birth, you are totally a Southern Girl at heart.  Lord 'em Mercy!

  • Birth that is all baby! Southern by the grace of God!
  • My mom says "I Swanee" and I laugh every time.
  • Ya know I love where I am from, but sometimes the dialect really gets me and I catch myself saying the words.  Then I gag.

Ex. - o'er dere (over there)

    Ex. I swar ( I swear)

We Lumbees truly have a speak of our own and if you are not from here you might be lost.  If you are curious just go to FB and check out  Phrases U might hear in Robeson County

  • I say I swanee and goodness gracious a lot. Bless yer heart comes out when we are talking about stupid people or the occasional old driver.
  • Yesh sometimes I have to get you to translate for me but I love it Smile
  • I have 2 of these shirts!  They are very comfy!  One that says "Sweetea with Lemon" and another that says Funchard on the front.  I wont say what it says on the back bc that would ruin the haha moment.
  • I say "I reckon" and "goodness gracious" a lot. I'm not sure if this is a southern thing or not, but DH (and I've noticed others) say "fer" instead of "for." I probably say it sometimes too though.

I have no idea what this means.

  • It's a cuter version of "I swear!"
  • I see, I've never heard it.

  • I swanee was new to me too!  My hub's from Robeson County too and he has some funny ones.  Things like, "Would you like any think else?"  What in the world!  I'm a sucker for soft tees!
Warning No formatter is installed for the format bbhtml
  • I also had no idea what the Swanee one was talking about.
