How's Amelia doing? I read in a different post that you got to do kangaroo care.  That's so great!  How big is she now?  How many weeks were you? Sorry hundreds of questions.  Hope things continue to go well and keep us updated on her!

Re: ~*luckycooky*~

  • Hi!  Amelia is doing amazing!  She is off of all lines/assistance/etc. with the exception of her feeding tube and an IV for additional nutrition and meds.  She is 3 lbs 1.5 oz although I don't think her length has changed (it was about 17").  I have actually spent most of the afternoon trying to get the wireless to work in our room so I could post more updates and pics but with no luck.  I finally made it over to the Geek Squad station at the hospital and am playing on a new computer while they service mine.  (A free service they offer to patient families so quick plug for them!)

Both my husband and I have done the kangaroo care and she has responded very well to it.  We also signed up for the reading program so they bring in a few books a week from their library so we can read to her.  DH and I were read to alot as children so this is something we are excited to share with her.

Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Children's Hospital and how they have taken care of us.  It is such a relief to know she is in great hands.  It has been my source of sanity through all of this.  Hopefully I can get my computer working soon so I can share her latest pics!

  • Sounds like things are going great.  Glad to hear that she's only on the feeding tube and iv for additional meds.  Are you at the children's hospital with the private suites? When my neice was there, they had just finished the floor and moved her there. It was so nice to visit her and it was nice for her parents to get to spend time with her.  It's amazing what medical technology is today.

  • Yes, we are at the one with private rooms.  It is so nice to have that space and privacy.  They are remodling still or again (not quite sure) so there is a bit of a mess but it is mostly the main hallways, not the NICU.  The technology is mind blowing and the people have been equally as great.  It is the only reason I sleep at night.
