Where do you go get your eyeglasses?
I've been going to Lens Crafters for years and always get my frames and lenses there. I have baaaad eye sight (contacts are -6.50 and -7.00), so I always get the super light weight lens (which unfortunately cost more money).
I called them to find out how much just the lenses cost and they're super expensive (I love my frames and don't think I want to replace them this year). (My company will pay for the eye exam, but not material.) I'm looking to see if other companies are just as good as Lens Crafters, and if they also carry a lightweight pair of lens?
Can you recommend where you get yours?
Re: Where do you go get your eyeglasses?
I get mine at costco--you have to be a member to buy glasses/contacts there, but it's totally worth it. My eyes are worse than yours (-8.5) and I got the high-index lenses (or whatever they're called...the really thin ones. They're amazing after having coke-bottle glasses growing up!)
I bought them a few years ago, but I think they were around $140 (frames AND lenses). I was shocked at the low price, but very happy!

I am not much help. I use Buten Eyewear downtown, mostly for their wonderful frames. Hopefully you find something not so expensive.
I go to Sam's or Costco. I get the polycarbonite lenses b/c my prescription is so strong. I can't remember the price but my order is usually between $150-200 for frames & lenses (I try to only spend what my insurance will pay). I'd like to try this site for a fun pair of glasses. I've actually heard good reviews. http://www.zennioptical.com/home.php
I order Dh's contacts through 1-800-contacts. They'll price match other sites so I've found some quotes from a few shady sites I would never actualy use. I send them the link & they honor the price.
My current glasses I got at Wing Eyecare. I don't remember exactly how much, but they were pretty pricey. But I plan to keep them for a long time, so...
Prior to that I hadn't gotten a new pair of glasses in about 8 years. I got those from PearleVision. That long ago I honestly don't remember at all what they cost, but I was happy enough with them to keep them for 8 years so...
