BR Poll for Moms: Baby Station/Dropping
At my last OBG appt, she said our LO is still at -3 station (where he's been for the past 3 weeks) and I'm only 4 days from my due date. I have another appt tomorrow, but I can already tell that he's still not dropped because my belly is still riding high up right under my chest. My OBG said that some babies don't drop until delivery. Is that really common? At this rate, I feel like our LO is gonna be super late =P So I figured maybe I can ask some moms here how far your baby was before you went into labor? Clicky poll time!

Re: BR Poll for Moms: Baby Station/Dropping
My OB didn't tell me ANYTHING regarding #'s and how low Brooke was. We had no idea about any of this. .. she would mention at about 36 weeks that I was somewhat dilated. Then at 37 weeks I was 'making progress.' (I asked and I think I was 1-2 cm dilated) When I asked what that meant regarding when I would give birth she said, "Could be tomorrow, could be 2-3 weeks from now."
Then I gave birth at 38 weeks. So... you just never know.

I am not sure... but I know I was only a "fingertip dilated" and not effaced at all even at 40 weeks.... even after my water broke i was still 1cm dilated and at -2 station
you never know and can't really use those visits to predict when baby will come... just try to rest (as uncomfortable as you may be) before baby comes!!
can't wait to meet your LO

oh and by the time I had my first internal I had been in labor for 6 hours (water had been broken for 7 hours) and I was only 2cm dilated then 4cm 4 hours later, and then he was born less than 3 hours later. So things can happen quickly.
I don't think they ever said anything about the station, but the nurse that checked me when I was at a 4 was not confident that he would be born before noon (6+ hours later).
