Fantastic news - but a little freaked out

Hey ladies! Long time no talk! I've been out of town a lot lately and so haven't been visiting TN very much...but now I'm back in town for a while.

So anyway, the good news first (I've been DYING to tell someone too, so this is awesome)...like a few others on the board, I'm pregnant! We're both extremely excited....but still in a little bit of shock. I actually thought it would take at least 6 months - so we went ahead and stopped using protection - thinking it would take a while (I have all the classic 'it may take longer' things going on - I smoke and drink - or used to at least, I'm overweight, and I had some bloodwork done that indicated that I would have troubles getting/staying pregnant )....but nope - it happened right away.

However, I'm freaking out a little bit about it.

DH doesn't have a job, and we live in a one bedroom condo. We already have his son (13) every weekend. We're actually ok with money, but that doesn't mean that I'm not stressing a bit about it. And with the real estate market the way it is, I don't know how we're going to sell the condo and move into another place.  So I guess really, what I'm freaking out about isn't necessarily the money, but the stress of being pregnant and the stress of moving combined...

Anyway, I feel like I shouldn't tell anyone yet, and so I don't really have anyone to talk to (besides DH) about all this. Part of it is probably that I'm just extra emotional because of the whole pregnancy thing...

Anyway, sorry this was so long!!!

  • Congrats!!  When are you due?

Try not to freak out, everything will be okay.  I had a friend that lived in a one bedroom and they just made the walk in closet into a nursery.  They lived there for a year with their little girl.  I have another friend that has a one bedroom condo and they turned their dinning room into the baby's room.  They just put up screens.  You will figure it out.  Don't worry to much about it.

  • Thanks ladies!

I haven't had my first appt yet, but based on the research I've done I would be due around the 9th of January.

Congrats to all the other ladies too!

  • Congratulations!  Focus on you and the baby...you don't need the extra stress...everything will work out...it always seems to!
  • Yay congratulations! DH and I were talking last night about how we're excited but freaked out at the same time. It's totally normal to feel that way but don't stress yourself out to the point you will harm the little one. Remember how much we were freaking out about wedding day and everything worked out fine?? I know it's a little different but trust me, everything will be fine!
  • Congrats!!! I'm sure I would be freaking out a little too, but relax things always work out and I'm sure you will find a way to handle it all.  Good Luck!
  • Congrats!

But definitely do NOT stress, when you stress, your baby stresses along with you, but it is worse on the child. Just relax and try to destress as much as possible. Start looking at houses and meet with realtors to see if putting your condo on the market would be a good idea. Also look at some real estate projection maps. There are some around on the web that will either predict a rise or fall in the market.

Most importantly, take good care of that bundle of joy growing inside of you! Being a mommy is like no other job in the world, so enjoy it! Good luck to you and your DH!
