Tri training update

T minus 4 days until my first triathlon. I'm excited but kind of disappointed in a couple things. 1) Forecast calls for thunderstorms all weekend. My trainer says it will go on regardless, but swim will be canceled if it is lightening.  Still, I hate riding my road bike on wet roads.  2) I'm 95% sure my friend (whose idea doing a tri was in the first place) is going to bail on me. She hasn't met up for any of our planned training sessions, and I know she isn't training on her own. I texted her yesterday to see if she was ready and no response. :(

But, I'm getting the hang of this swimming thing! I can swim 300m (the length of the race) without stopping, and can do about half of that so far without using a back stroke (I couldn't even go a full 25m without stopping a week and a half ago!!).  I'm working on increasing my time not having to roll on my back for a breather since I know it's not desirable.  Besides the prospect of wet roads, I'm on track for the biking.  The running is going okay.  Right now, I'm in a walk a minute, run 2 minutes mode, which will probably be what I use Sunday. Not bad for someone with bad knees who shouldn't run!

We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

Re: Tri training update

  • I'm so impressed you are doing this! I don't think I will ever be that fit!
  • I am also so impressed Leigha! I cannot wait to hear about your experience-- hopefully it will lift my spirits and encourage me to sign up for one myself. Can't wait for the recap!

  • It's finally here! Are you excited?! You're going to feel on top of the world when you cross that finish line! Please take a friend/photographer along with you to capture it all... and so that you can give us a thorough update!
  • Well, the hubs is going to cheer me on, and my parents said they would, too. Andplusalso, I just talked to my friend and she said she won't be bailing on me. She's gonna come swim with me Friday night.

  • Congrats on making it this far!  Running any sort of race has been a goal of mine for a while but it is much easier said than done so it is great that you have been able to follow through with it.  Good luck this weekend!
