  • Ugh sorry guys work has been so crazy since I got back to work today.

Hawaii was GREAT! It was a much needed break for us and we had a great time just relaxing and taking each day at a time. We really went down to Kauai with no agenda but we still ended up being able to see the entire island. We spent one day hiking the Waimea Canyon area which is like the Grand Canyon of Hawaii and we also did a 8 mile roundtrip hike to a waterfall.

Robyn I'm so glad you recommended that hike, it kicked my butt but it was so worth it...except for the part where on our way back from the waterfall, we were just following the couple who was a bit ahead of us. Turned out they got us lost and they were no help in helping figure out where we were or how to get back to the main trail. It was a bit stressful bc the other couple just gave up and started screaming for help so it was up to me and H to figure out how to get back. 45 min later we did thankfully! Still pretty scary since it was about 4 pm and we still had about 3 more miles to hike before the sun went down. I also have a nice souvenir of the hike in the shape of a giant bruise on my ass from when we had to cross a stream and I slipped and fell in. H calls it our almost "I shouldnt be alive" episode (he loves that show).

Other than that, I spent a lot of time on the beach while H surfed. We had a timeshare rental which was awesome because we just stopped at Costco and got a bunch of food to last us the week. We did have a Puka Dog Robyn which was very different but very yum (thanks again for that rec!).

I still have to sift through all our pics but I'm sure I'll be posting them on FB soon.

  • Sounds like you guys had a great time! Glad to hear you thought the hike to the waterfall was worth it as we did. We were very proud of how dirty we were when we got back. :)

    Can't wait to see photos!

Especially after I fell in the creek I was VERY dirty. H wanted to go get a drink after we got back to the car but even after I jumped in the ocean after we got back, my clothes and shoes were disgusting. I ended up tossing my sneakers since they were already old and they were so water logged and dirty that it probably would have added more weight to our suitcases than was worth it.
