Graduation Proposal

So, my alma mater held its graduation today, and the student graduation speaker proposed to his girlfriend during his speech!

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of proposals like these - I'm definitely a woman who enjoys smaller gestures, but I'm interested to see what you ladies think!

Re: Graduation Proposal

  • I'm with you (I told DH that if there was a JumboTron involved the answer would be no!) It's cute if that's what the couple likes, but in this case I feel kind of bad for all of the other kids graduating... I mean, it's THEIR day too! Way to steal the thunder.

  • I think things like that are really cute and romantic to watch but if it was me, I'd be so embarassed.

    I was thinking that too.

  • Not a fan--to each his own.  I always imagined you as a Middlebury kind of girl!  Who knew I'd be so wrong.
    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • If I was graduating, I wouldn't have felt like they were stealing my thunder.  And I always thought I wanted a public proposal.  DH almost did something public but changed his mind and it was just the two of us and I was SO HAPPY he did... I felt like I got to enjoy the moment more.

Ditto! If DH did something like that to me, I would absolutely die of embarrassment. But they are definitely cute to watch, if that's what the couple likes!

  • I would rather have two precious moments, than one grand one, but they are cute!
  • I think it's cute....and I don't think it is stealing their thunder.  Her face was priceless.  Indifferent

Haha, nope, no Middlebury for me. I actually only applied to 3 schools, all small, private, and Catholic. If I could go back now, though, I would definitely go somewhere different! Well, I say that, but my top grad school is also small, private, and Catholic...but they have the best Library Science program in DC!
