Friend update with cancer
So I spent all of last week trying to get in touch with her, but knew she was with her family. I tried calling again on Saturday night to see her Sunday and get all the paperwork done. Never heard from her. Finally got in touch with her last night and it's even more bad news.
While on the way to the airport on Saturday with her mom to fly back to San Antonio, they lost control of the car and totaled it into a telephone pole. Her mom was ok, but she sustained major injuries. 4 broken ribs, a broken foot, a broken arm, concussion and massive bruising all over her body. And of course the prognosis for healing is not good considering her body is riddled with cancer. The girl just can't catch a break. She was transported back to Austin on Monday and was released from the hospital yesterday. Unfortunately, because of her injuries, she has had to move back into her house (the one with the *** almost ex husband). Needless to say she's an absolute wreck and is not taking life very well right now. Im hoping to see her next week.
She's trying to get the paperwork together for me and my dad so we can see what all is in there and the legal responsibilities we have. I sadly feel that she is/has already given up. Im terribly worried about her moving back in with the *** , but right now he's the only one that can give her care in SA. It's just such an effed up situation. So just some more dust headed her way. She's supposed to call me when she gets some time away from the *** as he's being stingy about who he lets her talk to on the phone. oh man... what a sh!tty situation to be.
I wish I had some fantastic 'solutions' or help to offer... but I don't. Instead, I'll just keep her and her family in my thoughts.
