My grandmother in Russia is in very bad shape :(

This sucks, my grandmother is very very ill, but refusing to go to the hospital saying that if it's her time to go, so be it, that she's lived long and whatnot. And it's not looking good, my mom (this is my mom's mom) and dad were supposed to go visit her in early June (going to Prague for a week first) and now my aunt is saying that my mom should get to Russia as soon as she can. I'm so upset right now. My grandmother has never met Sasha, the last time we were there was when I was pregnant. And I'm trying to straighten everything out with my passport/visa (it's complicated) and was planning to go next summer with the kiddo. But as my passport/citizenship stands right now I cannot go now :(

Please keep her in your thoughts. I'm not a praying type, but I so hope she pulls through this thing. My sister is also going to be in Russia in the beginning of June, so I just hope she gets to see her too.

Re: My grandmother in Russia is in very bad shape :(

  • I'm so sorry your grandmother is ill. It is always so difficult when a loved one lives far away and is ill. I hope she does get better so she can meet Sasha.

I'll definitely keep your family in my thoughts.

  • Older people can be so stubborn when it comes to doctors!!

I hope she stays well so that you can introduce her to Sasha.

  • Oh, I do know how that feels.  My mother is living full-time at my grandmother's now.  I hope that you do get to see her and that she can meet Sasha. Is there a way you can appeal to the embassy or something?  Sometimes sick grandmothers can change things.
  • Thanks guys, all the thoughts and prayers are really appreciated. And Amy, that is not a bad idea, I should definitely try at least talking to them. Although the Russian embassy is certainly not the most friendly of places!
  • I'm so sorry your grandmother is sick Yuliya! I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers!

Oh I know.  My mom has been a regular at the Polish embassy.  Usually something for or related to my grandmother.  It starts off with them saying how long it's going to take, blah, blah, blah, and then my mom just discreetly mentions my grandmother and her health.  Suddenly the timeline gets shortened just a bit. It doesn't hurt to try.

Thanks again, that makes me feel a little better, I'll check with them.
