What to get HS grad?

A family friend is graduating high school.  I need a gift idea- hopefully around $25/$30?  He has practically everything he could ever want, not sure where hes going to college, prefer not to do cash or gift card.  Thanks!

Re: What to get HS grad?

  • When I graduated my sister made me a care package for college.  I had pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, etc.  You could probably go to the Dollar Tree find a cute basket or something and add those types of items.

  • Beer?

If you want to abide by the law, then can you find any inexpensive twin x-long sheet sets in that price range?  (geez, THAT's fun....)  Towels?  Do you think he has a "college movie collection" ie Animal House, PCU, Skulls, etc?

What about just something for the summer before he leaves for college--like tickets to a minor league baseball game with some "stadium bucks" or depending on what his interests are, are there any inexpensive concerts he might enjoy or activities that he might want to do before he graduates?

  • My brothers got a nice mix of "kitchen" essential for a dorm room.  They got me a nice glass plate, big glass cerearl bowl, 1 set of silerware, can opener, pot holder, hot pot, etc.  I still have them to this day and they have become very sentimental for me.  They got all of it at Target, so it couldn't have cost that much.

  • I agree with the kitchen essentials stuff! My sister filled a laundry basket full of towels, kitchen stuff, sheets, ect... I STILL have *some* of those kitchen items! It was a heavy duty plastic set that came with 4 plates, 4 bowls, 4 cups and a 4 set of utensils. This was probably the handiest thing anyone gave me!
  • I think kitchen essential / care basket is an awesome idea!

I know back when I graduated my grandmother sent me something like this and I loved it!

  • My sister bought me this thing...I think it was called a dorm survival kit.  It was a plastic tub filled with all kinds of kitchen stuff.  We still use it!
