OK, I know we've been through this a thousand times but bear with me - which do you prefer: the Ergo or the Babyhawk? Obviously the Babyhawk is better looking, but is the Ergo more comfortable (I've read differing opinions - some people seem to think it's better for your back, other women say the BH is better if you have larger boobs because it doesn't have buckles that dig into your chest)? They would be used primarily for walking around town/stores when we don't want to take the stroller.
(Side question: if you prefer the Babyhawk, would you recommend the regular tie version or the Oh Snap? I kind of like the idea of something that snaps better than something that ties.)
Re: Malia - baby carriers
i am butting in here but you may want to ask christine too (or maybe she'll chime in) b/c i know she has an ergo and a babyhawk too
i got the ergo when it was on babysteals and it isn't really comfy to sit down in w/the baby and has lots of padding which is good but also bad b/c it gets really hot. i tried it on at a babywearing meeting and wasn't excited about it but got it for DH and he tried it on and felt that both he and miss A were more comfy in the angelpack. i really like the angelpack even though i think it isn't as well known as other carriers. miss A still gets warm in it sometimes and it has less material than the ergo....but i love that it is reversible so you get a print on one side and a solid on the other...it is comfy even sitting down w/baby in it...you can do back or front carry and you can wear the straps either straight back or criss crossed...
ultimately i think a lot comes down to trying them on and seeing what you like. i tried a babyhawk but didn't like having to tie it... i think i would like the oh snap! version though...but then it's very similar to the angelpack
but i'm not sure if the babyhawk has a padded waist band? i think that is very important to help distribute the weight so you can comfortably carry for longer periods of time.
if you go to babywearer.com there are reviews of all the carriers there

I don't think it does, and this was something that concerned me.
*off to check out the angelpack!*
***butting in too***
The BH doesn't have a padded waistband but it's still comfortable, I think. I like it because it's not bulky.
The Ergo does get hot but I think it's the best carrier for when the baby gets bigger and heavier. I also love that it has the sun shade...makes it good for walking/hiking. It's also the most masculine do it's good for dads.
I just got the Belle, too, and I love that it's the least bulky carrier I've seen and it's really quick to put on/take off. And they can face out in it.
Not sure which is best for large busts and I haven't tried the Ergo on as a back carrier. But I imagine you could find a way to adjust it so that it doesn't squish the bewbies.
ergo is by far the most popular around here, I always check out the moms and dads (and babies) that I see with them on. I really do notice a large variety of shapes. The strap that would connect across the breasts is adjustable (up and down) and should be worn a little higher than right across your boobs so it shouldn't be uncomfortable, but maybe not attractive? I haven't really notices but might have to go try it on once Jack wakes up and I take him out of the ring sling I'm wearing since I'm on the big side in the chest (always) and other areas (right now)...
It will be warm, but it doesn't get too hot here so I'm not really concerned about that. Since Jack is so little right now the ring sling actually gets warmer b/c it covers us so much. I love the ergo's sleep shade, I have used it cover him from the sun last weekend and then the week before it was so freezing at my cousin's baseball game that I used it as a wind barrier. Jack always conks out regardless of what carrier I use.
That said - I do like the look of the baby hawks
But my grey galaxy ergo is pretty spiffy too!
OMG, TG everyone else chimed in b/c I just now saw this post! Sorry! I'm also glad the other girls chimed in b/c I can't really answer your question...
I ordered the Ergo from YellBaby but still have not received it. They did e-mail me 10 days ago saying it would ship in 7-10 days. So I e-mailed them earlier today asking if it has shipped. I can still dispute payment if I don't get it in the required time, so we'll see, I might have to do that.
All that said, I have tried on the Ergo and it's comfortable but it is bulky.
I have the BabyHawk and love it but mostly use it at home for doing dishes and other stuff with baby attached. The waistband is not padded but it doesn't bother me either.
Outside of the house, I use the Belle carrier, which is great because it is so small and light and easy to stuff in a diaper bag.
I am have heard good things about the Beco carriers and Angelpack...
Lisa, which Angelpack do you have?????
I have been eyeing them both! I think Angelpack was on either BabySteals or Mamabargains last Fall but I had just bought the Belle carrier so I didn't jump on it.... If the Ergo carrier from Yellbaby doesn't come thru, I might get an Angelpack instead.
Lisa, between the Ergo and Angelpack, would you recommend the latter?
