Guess what vegan shoes are made of?

... according to one sales person today they're made of recycled materials.  So, the shoes she brought for me to try on... the ones made of leather?  Apparently vegan.  Hmm

I'm all about "green" but being environmentally sustainable isn't necessarily vegan.

Also, hi pals.  Listen, I know that most of you aren't on at night, and I know once a post is a day old, more responses are less likely.  I'm trying to hang in here as a nocturnal nestie, but I might back off with responding to threads in the evening if no one replies after my posts.  I used to not understand why we lost some of the women who weren't on during the day.  This isn't a plea for attention - promise - but sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself.  And I can do that plenty during the day. • Hi. Nice to see you. The Nocturnal Nestie Syndrome is how we lost JGE. I'm finding it harder and harder to get the time to chat on here. Life is crazy after mini humans, huh?

  • Oh neat, I didn't know recycled materials and LEATHER were vegan (shifty eye...)! Nice, well informed sales lady, huh? While I am not vegan, I did buy a pair of shoes made from all recycled material, soy inks, etc. and spent a lot more on them then I would ever think of spending on a pair of shoes just because of their impact on their environment. And, I LOVE them.

(I talk to myself a lot during the day too. Well, I talk to the babe, but I might as well be talking to myself!)

  • I'm on at all hours.

Have you heard about the "green" hotel that is going in on Monroe Center?

  • Hmm.  So, when I am the last to post during the day and no one else responds, what does THAT mean?  It means, Tigers, you talk too much.

Good to hear from you even though I have no idea about this.

  • I have no clue about vegan shoes but I'm here at night. Some times I have time to comment, others not so much. I have a feeling there's more of us here at night then what we think.

  • I thought the whole vegan thing meant no animal products? The leather totally fails at that...Stick out tongue I would've guessed reusable/recyclable goodies are in vegan shoes.

Eight votes on Tigers' post between 10 and 11 p.m.? I think you're right.

  • I've never questioned what vegan shoes are made of.  I'll have to google that

I'm fairly certain it's not leather.

  • Nice to see you around - a lot of us seem to be a bit too busy to post recently - during the day or at night.  I figure nesting is a somewhat cyclical process.

As far as vegan shoes go - I'd imagine no animal products would be vegan but I'm no expert. :-)

Recycled or reusable products would be fine, as long as they don't come from animals in any way.  Many vegans even avoid foods like honey.

    From vegan.org:

what is a VEGAN? A vegan (pronounced VEE-gun) is someone who, for various reasons, chooses to avoid using or consuming animal products. While vegetarians choose not to use flesh foods, vegans also avoid dairy and eggs, as well as fur, leather, wool, down, and cosmetics or chemical products tested on animals.

  • Poor, clueless sales person.  Stick out tongue
