Re: TTC related: Easy to Swallow Prenatal Vitamins?

  • Nature Made's prenatal vitamins are smaller in size compared to a lot of other prenatal vitamins. Highly recommended. I was taking ones from Whole Foods that my friend recommended and they seriously were like horse pills. Not fun.

  • ooh, i forgot to reply to your email about this. i'm taking Stuart PNV. It's OTC. I got it from CVS. It's very easy to swallow. I don't know if it' the vitamins or it's just me but I didn't feel nauseous unlike other PNV.

  • I cut my vitamins in half and take one with lunch and one with dinner.  Not only do I have trouble swallowing the large vitamins but I also throw up if I take it all at once.  My doctor said that it is fine to break it up :)
  • I can't take big horse pills either so I just got the Target brand and took Expecta DHA seperate. They're both reasonably sized.

  • When I was TTC, I took one that I bought at a healthfood store. I think the brand was Rainbow Light Comlete Prenatal. They were smooth capsules instead of the giant, chalky prescription kind. The dosing was 6 per day.  I took 2 after each meal. My dr prescribed some, too. I think it was NataFort. Some days I would take the Rx and some the over-the-counter brand. I figured that covered everything. My dr said that the Rx kind could be broken in half. Bad idea. It made it scratchy and harder to swallow. You might try the Rainbow Light 6/day.

  • i take the whole foods ones in the red bottle (as opposed to the green bottle) - i do not recommend them.  they are huge and smell bad Stick out tongue  (but i tend to think all vitamins smell bad - but these almost make me gag sometimes)  i need to restock this week - will have to try one of the other options suggested...

  • I take Walgreen's brand.  They ARE big, but coated well, so they go down pretty easily for me.

They do smell bad, but I agree that I think all vitamins smell bad.

For the nausea (I've always gotten nauseated with vitamins), I take them directly before going to bed....I sleep through the nausea!

  • prenate DHA vitamins aren't small but they are smooth and easy to swallow.  they also didn't make me burp fishy taste/smell like some other ones.  you can get a sample from your ob/gyn
  • hi hi hi!!!!

I take these.  They're liquid softgels recommended by my OB/GYN.  I haven't had problems swallowing them and no nausea.  GL!

  • I take Nature Made with DHA.  They are available at Costco.  They are smooth capsules and have a tiny fishy aftertaste, but I deal with that by always taking them with juice.
