At least it was good interview practice...

Got a call last night that I didn't get the job I interviewed for last week.  They have a part time position for which the details still haven't been worked out that they might want to offer me, but I don't think I could justify going part time when I already have a full time job that I can stand to do.

I just submitted two more applications, so we'll see how those go. One of them is in the same district as my husband, and he has the head principal and two of the assistant principals at the high school "highly recommending" me for this middle school position - so I'm REALLY getting my hopes up for that one.

Also had a blanket ultimatum in our staff meeting yesterday that anyone who is even *thinking* of leaving has to ANNOUNCE IT by next Wednesday so they can post potential openings to collect resumes. *GULP* WHAAAT?!?!?

Re: At least it was good interview practice...

  • I'm sorry that you didn't get the job - but it sounds like you have good prospects!!

    I definitely wouldn't want to let a job know that you were applying other places unless you had an offer - unless you're ok with ending up with no job!!

    Isn't that NUTS!! I mean...I DO understand the mentality here, as it's a small charter school that would prefer to just do one job posting. They want to be able to collect resumes while all the quality teaching candidates are searching.

    TBH, at least 9 of my 21 coworkers already know I'm looking. But those that DON'T are in the dark for a REASON. And honestly, there is no way they would hire someone to take my place if I wasn't for sure leaving. I'm confident of that.

  • I'm sorry you didn't get the job, but good luck with the other 2 positions!  Hopefully that will work out!

    WTF is up with them making you announce it now?  I get that they want the positions filled for the next school year, but seriously?!  What happens if you don't announce it? Also what happens if you do and you have to stay there?  Good luck Laura!  Keep us posted!

    ::JOB VIBES::

  • bummer, but sounds like that happened for a reason.  looks like the one in DH district would be great.

    i would not say a word till you have another offer.  that is insane!

    Sorry to hear that you didn't get the position Laura.

    Is it legal for them to state that if you are thinking of leaving that you must announce it?  Sounds off, IMPO.

    I really wondered this as well...I am going to talk to the personnel committee (like our HR basically) and ask what will happen if I don't.  They all already know I'm looking, but our school program coordinators (basically supervisors) don't know.
