yasmin feedback please

Hey there!

My gyno has switched me as of today to Yasmin to help with my moodswings and libido...or lack there of.

I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen for 5 yrs, took a break, got pg with DS, then got back on Ortho about 5 months after. And have had a lack of drive and horrible mood swings since I got back on this thing. My dr suggested this and I'm going to give it a try to see if it helps.

What good and bad stories can you tell me about Yasmin?

I was on yasmin before I was pg and was pretty satisfied with it. Just last fall I decided to try something else and went to loestrin24. Bad idea for me, my back broke out in acne like when I was pregnant. Needless to say, I've switched back to yasmin (generic). Just remember that after you have a baby it can take 2 years for your homones to level out. I still have some mood swings and lack in libido, but I know it's not all from the bc.

I am on the generic of yasmin. I am very statisfied, it hasn't effected my sex drive at all and I am not having problems losing weight like I did on my previous bcp's.

I had no issues. No breast soreness, no spotting, etc. I was ridiculously emotional and crying for no reason the first few weeks though. Once that subsided, everything was fine.

After 11 months I decided to take a break and see if my sex drive gets better. Honestly, I've been off for 7 months and it didn't come back so I can't blame Yasmin.

I am getting on Yaz at the end of this month. Anyone been on both Yaz & Yasmin & have any advice?

Yasmin was one of the only birthcontrol pills I liked. It didn't make me nauseous like other pills and it really helped to reduce cramping. I also liked YAZ.

Love it! I take Ocella and I dont care if the costs double, I am not switching.

I took it for about 3 years, the only problem was that I did fine if I took it at night (before I went to bed), but if I was working that night and I took it I got ridiculously nauseated, so I ended up not taking it consistently. Was too worried about getting pregnant (though I supposed it worked just fine for 3 yrs) so I switched to Nuvaring.

I've been on both, but I'm not sure there's any advice to give you. The hormones are the same, it's just there are more active pills in Yaz. It made my period a little shorter.

i've been on yasmin for 6 years. i've always been very pleased with it. i originally went on it b/c my hormone balance was all messed up and i wasn't having any period at all. i became perfectly regulated on it (i can pretty much predict my period down to the hour now), i actually lost some weight when i first started it (though prob only b/c of the hormone imbalance before), and i've never had an issue with it affecting my sex drive. i'm really happy with it.

For me Yasmin provided utter relief after having tried 7 other b/c pills/methods with varying horrid side effects. Much like hpinault I too became eerily regular for the first time ever and aside from the pill a day draw back I am very happy with it.

I took it for a while and had no issues with it but I had no libido so I asked if it was the pill and doc said maybe and changed me to Loestrin which is also good except I am not getting my period regularly.
