Stockings with Lingerie???

Ok I know lingerie it self does not have a "real" purpose, but what is the purpose of stockings with lingerie? Do they slim your legs? Is there a historical signifigance? Or is it just the look of them? Just wondering...a couple of my new "outfits" have the garter straps for stockings. I am getting stockings for them but am just curious...

I think it's just for looks. I mean, isn't the whole point of lingerie is the look of it? I have like four or five pairs of stockings. I think they're fun and feel kinda sexy on my skin as well. I feel like VS has the best stockings. The ones I have from them seem to hold up better than the ones I got at Target and a pair at Wal-mart. VS are a bit pricer but the quality is WAAAY better. HTH

I think they just look sexy. All womens undergarments are sexy to men. Stockings are more sexy than pantyhose because you don't have to take them off to have sex, which adds visually.

I think stocking are the bomb and the gartered lingerie styles are rather slimming (as opposed to just garter belts which tend to bite into your hips and leave unattractive dents). Plus, with stockings, there is that very obvious bare patch at the top...where they guys are dying to go...nylon roads to perdition!

Heh, this makes me chuckle. Not many people know that full pantyhose are a relatively new invention, and garter belts were all you had until about 30-40 years ago.

My reason for garters and stocking is they don't create a muffin top the way some pantyhose do. Plus, they let my bits breathe nicely. And yes, they look sexy as hell.

I wear them when it's cold, so I'm warm enough not to need to be under the covers.

Under the covers sex limits the positions and I don't like it.

As most have said it's a historical thing with the garter and stockings. But nowadays it's a visual stimulation and for some a fetish. Plus there is something sexy about a women in stockings sometimes and that little peek of skin at the top if you are wearing a skirt that is a little shorter gives that tease.
