ahhh prom

So, last night I chaperoned my school's junior prom. I think I was most excited because the kids had asked me to be there. Then, it finally set in that most of the "cool" teachers were going to senior prom, and had declined the invite to go to junior prom because the advisor is insane.

It was really nice to see the girls dressed up (and see the guys without their hats!), and it made me wish i could still have a reason to get all dressed up like that!

I have to say, it was pretty hilarious watching everyone dance. Sure it was the dirty griding and all that, but it brought me back to my memories, and nothing has changed in 6 years. The boys would just wrap an arm around the girls waist, and shake their hips back and forth. HILARIOUS. It was especially hilarious when a line of boys were swaying left to right at the exact same time. We tried to get a video of it, but the light was too bad. hahaha

So, now to the best part of the night. A group of my students started acting a little strange after dinner (they came in acting normal). They were dancing crazy, and one even came up to talk to me (she's lazy, and avoids me at all costs). I knew something was up. All of a sudden, one girl starts to sway a bit, and it looks like she is so drunk she is going to fall over. They take her out, and she starts yelling at the assistant principal "get the fuuck away from me!" and started pushing/hitting him. They called the cop over and the principal, and called her parents. Then, she was in a room with the principal waiting for her parents to come and she kept yelling "fuuuck you!! fuuuck you!!"

So, I wont be seeing her in class for atleast 10 days haha.

I have to say, I was always to afraid to go to prom drunk. although when i got there, i wish i had been drinking...but i was always a "good kid" when adults were around, so i think thats what scared me the most. dont get me wrong, i have some stories about HS, but getting in trouble with adults scared the crap out of me! haha

Re: ahhh prom

  • Ahhhhh sweet memories! I was at a confirmation party last night doing pictures for my friends' daughter, and it was like chaperoning a middle school dance. There was definitely some dirty dancing. That's how I knew I'm officially an adult, I was shocked looking at these youngin's and how raunchy they were getting.

    *sigh*

Melko, I could never do your job, I just don't know how I'd handle a situation like that. Holy awkward. I never drank in high school for the same reasons, I knew the consequences would be hellish if I was ever caught.

  • Ah, such sweet memories... these are the best times of their lives.

I never drank in HS either.  Not only did I behave around adults, I was blatantly unaware of what was going on around me.  They used to bring bottles of Aquafina to school filled with vodka and just pass it around the room!  In the middle of the day!  I found this out after I graduated and I had no freakin' clue that was going on.  Evidently there was a lot of drinking at parties too, which is probably why everyone thought my birthday parties were lame... :-P

  • haha I was about to feel like a "bad kid" because I drank A TON in HS lol. I never did it at a school function but my class only had 52 kids and one guys parents owned a tree farm, fully equipped with a pond, four-wheelers and some awesome off-roading, so we would all get trashed at his house and ride 4-wheelers. Yeah, in retrospect, probably really stupid. I also had an older sister in a sorority that liked to have me come stay with her and we'd always go out together. Funny thing is, I didn't drink much in college - it was like I got all of the stupid partying out of my system early.

That sounds awesome!  I also drank a ton in high school - Panda, I was the girl with the Aquafina bottle.  For our prom, we stayed for dinner and then cut out early to go to a keggar.

  • Yay prom pictures!

I'm in the middle and the girl on the left is my MOH!  I think I look really cute in this picture.  I haven't looked at it in years, but I never felt like I was cute in HS.  Bawh.  I was so tiny then!

Hahaha, I'm so glad this turned into a picture thread!  BTW, I'm obviously the one in red.  MOH is in the back right, and my BM is next to me.  Stupid high school.

I think my dress might still fit - I should try it out!
