Rant

my son is not sleeping again. It's not as bad as it was in the fall and befor that (when he couldn't sleep for longer than 45 minutes) but it's still up up to five times a night.

I'm going to school right now, by distance, which is great because it gives me the flexibility to sleep. But it's really becoming too much. I just woke up from a four hour "nap", which is how long I've needed to spend tying to catch up lately. I have to leave in two hours to pick him up from daycare and a couple hours to devote to work is not enough to keep caught up.

And in September I'll be doing a full time practicum and catching up on sleep won't be an option. Pity party here...

The worst part is knowing he might be in pain...

Re: Rant

  • This is definately RANT worthy.

Nothing makes me more frustrated or irritable then being without sleep.

Nope. Tons of tests and x-rays with no real results (that I know of anyway). But they found something in his urine that they usually only find in elderly people with osteoporosis. We have our third visit with Children's at the end of this month. Maybe they'll have answers for us then.

We got to see an x-ray of his skull a couple weeks ago- they showed us all the abnormal parts. It was really weird, and the doctor kept commenting on that. Every medical professional that feels his head with their hands gets this look on their face and starts firing questions at me about what testing we've undergone. He hit his head really hard a couple weeks ago and since some of the testing they're doing involves brittle bones (which I don't believe he has) we erred on the side of caution and brought him to the ER. The doctor we saw there was so concerned about it and kept feeling his head (and not the injured part) and commenting about the differences he felt. I'm sick of hearing about how deformed his skull is but luckily you can't really tell to look at him.

  • I hope they figure out what's going on soon.  Poor little guy.  Poor you!  You need some sleep.  Is it possible for someone to come over and give you a hand for the day?  Let you get rest and caught up on your school work?

  • Zombie hugs for you. Left Hug I hope you get answers and sleep soon!
  • Oh, gosh, I'm sorry! We went through a few weeks of DS waking up once an hour or more and it was BRUTAL. I can't imagine dealing with that crap for as long as you have.

September is a long way away. Maybe things will be better by then...

I hope you get some answers soon.

  • I heard about a case similar to yours the other day (well, the sleeping part that is).

I sent you a PM with the info, maybe their solution could help you too. I hope you get some rest soon :)
