Great. This is the email I got from work today:
______ is a safe place
for our Patients, Associates and Physicians and we have worked hard to ensure
that we have procedures and policies in place that put safety as a top
priority. We have reason to believe that there may
be a need for increased
security. In an effort to be proactive and
maintain the highest protection for everyone, we have
determined that effective immediately,
some extra measures of precaution are needed and will remain in
place until further notice.
Effective immediately all access -
in or out - of the hospital will be made through the Front Doors only.
All persons, including Associates
and Physicians, coming into the facility must have visible badges.
These security measures apply to all persons who enter the
building regardless of their position or how long they have worked at the
facility.
Be especially vigilant about
badges or allowing anyone in or out of the
building or any secured area within the hospital who may be
"tailgating" on your badge or key access.
Two Security Guards will be
on duty at all times.
Don't hesitate to call Security if
you have any concerns or feel uncomfortable - Trust Your Gut.
Talk to your manager
or director if you have further questions.
Re: I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later...
wow.. do you know of any issues that have happened?
kind of unrelated but DH and I have noticed that our church has started having APD hanging out during services
Yeah, one of our resident doctors was fired (takes a LOT to get fired as a resident) and my good friend is one of the attendings that gave him a bad review that was the final straw for him getting canned. So I'm thinking maybe he had a bad reaction to it. He was kind of...unstable.
That's sad if someone is threatening the church.
Sometimes I pin stuff
It's weird isn't it? This has happened at my synagogue regularly and you get used it after awhile.
I'm surprised to hear about police at churches on a regular basis (other than for traffic) but not about your news Tiffany. I would have thought security would have been tight there to begin with, but I guess the places I had experience with were either for children or forensic, so both were high security.
I also work now in a place where we have a sally-port entrance, cards to get anywhere in the building, and a parking lot surrounded by barbed wire.
ETA: My point was that my view may be skewed since I've almost always worked in places with lots of security.
No, security is tight. We have metal detectors at the entrance with security officers. You have to use your card to pass into every section of the hospital. The problem I guess is that it may be a former employee so people may unknowingly just let him follow them in.
