Nursery Glider?

Hi Ladies -

DH and I just ordered our our nursery furniture last night (I'm so excited)! We ordered it from The Land of Nod - so I haven't actually seen it in person, but I'm hoping it'Il be nice (I least I've heard positive reviews about their stuff).

One thing we still need to buy, though, is a glider.  I didn't want to order it online because I'd like to actually sit in it first - and make sure it's comfy.  Does anyone have recommendations of stores to buy a glider at?  I'm going to check out Pottery Barn Kids today - but any other places would be great too!  (We went to baby Furniture Warehouse (in reading) on Saturday and didn't see anything.)  If so, TIA

Re: Nursery Glider?

  • This doesn't help you try it out first, but we actually got ours on Craig's List. We got a Dutailier that is in great condition for like $70. We just refinished the frame so that it matches our nursery.

I would assume (though I'm no positive as I've never looked for baby stuff) that Target, BRU, and Buy Buy Baby would all have a few gliders in store to test out.

  • Oh yeah if you haven't already definitely check out Buy Buy Baby in Nashua - it just opened a couple months ago and is a great store. I think they seem to have a much larger furniture selection in store than they do online.

  • we were very particular on the glider, we wanted a glider/swivel/recliner/upholestered (so we could use it after bb in the living room/TV room), we ended up getting it at macy's and are thrilled with it. It is so comfy, Macys has the best delivery ever! They offer to move furniture and even vaccuum! It is chocolate, which matches our nursery and living room for later. We found one at BRU that we liked and had a 20% off coupon but they only had it in one color. GL!
  • We went with a big cushy rocker that reclines from Lazy Boy.  It's soo comfortable to sit in.  I couldn't find a glider that I liked at all.
  • This is funny, because we just did this ourselves.  I found the glider I liked at BRU, complete with gliding ottoman, but before DH would let me purchase he wanted to check out that was at Jordan's.  The unfortunate thing is that I wanted to be able to have my feet up while I rock, and he wanted the recliner, but you just can't do both at the same time.  So after we didnt find anything we liked at Jordan's, I finally brought him to BRU while they were having their nursery furniture sale last week, and he finally tested out this glider I've been raving about, and we decided to get it.  SO happy. :)  Its the Rock-A-Bye Taylor Classic glider and ottoman - its a fully upholstered, cushy chair as opposed to a wooden rocking chair, to boot!
