Book Club Review

So we met last night at my house to cover The Help. There was a lot of good discussion regarding a variey of topics such as racism, class, inherent/ learned traits as well as other environmental factors. We figured out who the Hilly/ Minny/ 4th Bridge Player were among our group. All in all, good book, good discussion.

Our next book is The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart. MrsChristmas will be hosting in North Austin late June.

Last night we voted in I am Ozzy by Ozzy Osbourne. There was much debate, much discussion, and we discussed concerns regarding offensiveness, relevancy, and how others not in attendance may feel about the book. (We also now know that the bat incident was an accident and how it happened- included in the book.) That meeting will be hosted by CIA in Central Austin sometime around August, depending on when we have the next meeting.

Thanks to everyone who came- it was awesome.

Hopefully I can jump back on the book club wagon now that Camy is a little older, but I had to chuckle about you saying there was much discussion about the offensiveness of the Ozzy book. We read "I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell" a while back and that was THE most offensive book I can ever imagine reading. It still makes me cringe if it comes to mind or comes up in conversation. I can't imagine the Ozzy book could be worse than that one, can it? ::off to read the Amazon review:: I'm intrigued..
