1 can sweetened, condensed milk
3 cups quick oats, 1 cup whole oats (but I use 4 cups quick and not any whole)
2 tbsp wheat germ (optional, but healthy)
1/4 cup applesauce
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup brown sugar
splash of vanilla if you like
1/2 to 1 tsp cinnamon
dried fruit, nuts, chocolate chips, etc to add in
In large bowl, mix milk, applesauce, cinnamon, vanilla, and brown sugar
Add peanut butter, stir until smooth.
Add oats and wheat germ. Stir until moist.
Add dried fruit, nuts, etc. Stir in.
Spread into 9 x13 and smooth out (the back of a spoon works really well for this)
Bake 20-ish minutes at 350 until golden.
Let cool before cutting.

These are the only things DH will ever eat for breakfast. If they're not there, he just skips it. For maple syrup purposes, since it's not ask thick as PB I wouldn't substitute for that, probably for the applesauce. Not sure. Figure it out Syruper's Wife and let us know! DH would loves Maple Syrup so he's excited to try it.

I'm not sure, it's really thick and it's part of the "glue" that holds it together.

So I figured out how to make these gluten free and dairy free
to make them gluten free just use Bobs Red Mill gluten free oats and replace the wheat bran with ground flax seed, and replace the sweetened condensed milk with the following recipe. As long as you don't add chocolate, they're now suitable for any vegetarian, vegan, or gluten intolerant person in your life.
Sweetened Condensed Soy Milk1 cup instant soy milk powder2/3 cup white sugar
3 T margarine
1/3 cup boiling waterMix the soy milk powder and sugar in a bowl. Melt the margarine in the water. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and beat with an electric mixer 2 minutes. Refrigerate overnight. Keeps 1 week refrigerated.
Makes the equivalent of 1 can of sweetened condensed milk. This will replace sweetened condensed milk in any. Make it at least the night before you will need it.
mmmmm
