One thing you wish you could do...

What is one thing (or more than one thing) you wish you knew how to do?  I wish I could dance... like really dance.  I have no rythmn (sp?) so I could never get good at dancing, but I want to be able to dance to all types of music.  I just love how fun it is and how sexy/passionate it can be.

Ok... now it's your turn....

Re: One thing you wish you could do...

  • I always wanted to play the piano.  I was very into ballet as a child/teen and always wanted to be able to sit down and play the piano in the studio.

My mom started me in dance lessons at a very young age b/c she had always wanted to take them as a child (they were very poor and lived in a rural area so it would have been impossible)  She would not have made me continue if I didn't like them so much (my sister didn't enjoy them and quit at about age 7) but it's still interesting she picked that b/c of her own childhood dreams.   I found myself doing the same thing b/cjust the other day I was asking DH if we could buy a piano so Jack could take lessons!!

  • I wish I could draw.  Just last weekend MH and I were at the Chicago Botanic Gardens (we're members and go almost every weekend), and I mentioned that I was in the mood to go buy a sketch pad and colored pencils.  He told me to go for it, but I know what the results would be.....terrible!  He encouraged me to take a drawing class, but not with LO on the way.  Maybe in a few years.

  • I wish I could do math in my head.  I understand how math works and I can figure out complicated problems with a calculator, but without one I have trouble just calculating a tip.  It's almost like I have number dyslexia -- I can't keep track of what I'm adding/subtracting/dividing and I get really confused.  It makes me feel like such an idiot sometimes.

  • I wish I knew how to cook better.  My mom spoiled me growing up, so if I was hungry she made me something.  When I moved out of the house, I didn't even know how to make a grilled cheese sandwich.  (I wish I could insert an embarrassed face, but I can't get the smileys to work on my Mac.)  I can cook things now, but it's nothing to brag about.  Maybe I should take a cooking class or something.

I wish I were more musical. I played piano as a kid but quit because I sucked and I got a guitar but I suck at it too and still can't really play so I was going to sell it but MH convinced me to keep it for our LOs in the future. I just wish I could not be so musically challenged!

  • Dancing is a good one!  I used to be in dance as a kid and I can rock a dance routine if it's given to me to learn, but I can't just free dance to anything out on the floor.  It's weird.

I also wish I knew how to cook.  MH does all the cooking (he actually loves it and is really good at it), but I would love to be able to just WOW him with an awesome meal other than Chicken Parm or Lemon Chicken Wink  Granted, that is one thing I have really been working on (trying new recipes).  Someday.

  • I wish I understood financial planning and investing better than I do.  I just got a portfolio report in the mail that had all these graphs and junk and I was like, "uh, okay.  Am I making money?"  Duh.  I am seriously considering taking a class or something.  I hate when I am at work during Board Meetings when the investment portfolio manager comes to talk to us and I feel like I have no idea what he's really saying.  It all sounds like fast-talking, dazzle-them-with-bs to me.
  • i wish i could sing.  i've always felt like in an alternate life, I would want to be on broadway Wink  unfortunately, i can't sing, or dance.  sigh.

  • I wish I could play guitar!  I love to sing and have a fairly decent voice but there is never any music around.  I can't tell you how many times I've been sitting around a campfire with family and friends wishing I could whip out my guitar and start strumming and singing, with everyone joining in.  I'm seriously cosidering a class.  It's not too late right?
  • I wish I still played the piano. I used to sing and accompany myself and that was something I was known for! Now, not so much.

I wish I could run. Like... for more than 10 minutes.

  • SING!  I'm horrible.  Yet I'm the type who wants to sing all the time, no matter who's listening.  I don't since I'm horrible, but I want to!
  • A few things! I wish I could play the violin, wish I was more knowledgable when it came to finance and investing and also wish I could cook and bake like a chef. Granted, I do the majority of the cooking and am not bad in the kitchen at all, but I want to be able to whip together yummy meals like they do on the Food Network.

  • I really wish I knew SIGN LANGUAGE.  I find it extremely fascinating and just realized recently that I could have been taking classes at the local J.C. while I've been out of work.  This is one thing that is on my bucket list and I fully see myself doing great things with it.

  • I wish I could sing. I mean, I can sing and my voice isn't horrible, but it's not great either. I always wished I had a really fabulous singing voice that would stop people in their tracks!
  • I wish my body worked like a Cirque du Soleil acrobat. They make everything look so fun... yet simple... like we should all be able to fly through the air and do tricks. When I try to do simple gymnastics, it is not comfortable! Not easy! I feel like I've wasted a body.

  • These are all great!!  Like many of you, I wish I could sing as well.  I have a really deep voice (ok, it's not freakishly deep but still) so my singing abilities are very limited - especially for the more catchy songs.  Doesn't stop me from singing, nor does my lack of rythmn and dancing abilities stop me from dancing silly on the dance floor or in the car.

Oh and I wish I could cook (I wish I had the desire to cook - with as much as I LOVE to eat I don't understand it) and I wish I was more creative.  I try so hard but I often have to find projects online and try my hardest to replicate them.  I'm not good at coming up with artsy stuff on my own, even though I wish I was.

  • oooh...so many things!  like others mentioned, being able to dance and sing without looking/sounding like a fool.  also, i really wish i could speak another language.  i took 4 years of chinese in highschool, but i was never good enough to actually have a conversation.
