I thought it would be easiest to go in alphabetical order to take turns picking books - so since I'm starting it off, S&D2HI would pick next, then SanHawaii, etc. (Unless anyone can think of a better method - I'm a bit sleep deprived today so I'm very open to suggestions lol!)
I'll post a weekly check-in for clubbers, and then we can have a bigger final discussion once a month before we start on the next book. Sound good? ETA: we'll give everyone this week to pick up a copy of the book and officially start next Monday.
For our first book, how about The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak? Let me know if you've already read it - if too many people have, I'll pick something else.

Stupid vacation! I haven't been checking the boards and didn't even know we were doing this - can I play?!
ETA: The Book Thief is on my gigantic to-be-read list so that pick is good for me.
Sounds good. Never heard of Book Thief so this will be fun for me (alas, most of my book reads are self-help or travel books...I just gor Women Food and God by Geneen Roth yesterday).
One question, for this book club is it anything goes or do we want to stick to a certain genre, etc. Just asking.

along the same lines, I'm wondering if the next person could also select a book so I have time to place a hold and get it from the library if I want to go that route...

I think anything goes - it will be more interesting! Plus I think people will have more fun if they can pick from a genre they enjoy.
I think a month would be about right? If we all finish sooner we can move the schedule up. I'll post check-ins every Monday, just to see where everyone is up to and then we can do a bigger discussion at the end of the month.
