Just about crapped myself...

DH is up late grading and I can't sleep.  We just bought ourselves Quicken 2010...we've been using 2007, and it stopped working for us.  I was just playing around with the different budgeting tools (never really did it before...we always just used Quicken to kind of watch all our accounts and make sure we had enough money, which was nice).

I ran the budget analyzer, and it spit out some interesting tidbits. Perhaps the most interesting is that over the last 8 months, we averaged $400/month dining out Indifferent. Ummmmm....yeah....that's enough of that!! WTF is wrong with us?!  I really need to learn how to cook better...

  • Lol, that is crazy that it analyzes everything like that. I don't want to know what it would tell me about my shopping habits though. Wink

Wow, I bet I'd probably be about the same too if we added ours up. I think that's really good that you guys are paying attention to what you are spending your money on though.

  • I just went through our credit card statements the other day with highlighters for each category and totaled up what we spend... let's just say I think our habits are very similar to yours.  :)

Until your post, I never even knew what Quicken was for.  I just thought it had something to do with your taxes.  Now I'm thinking this might be something we should look into!

  • Unfortunetly that sounds a lot like us.  I was looking at credit card statements and it's divided by food/clothes/home improvement, etc.  Everything we spent was food and home improvement!  It was very depressing.

  • That's nuts!  I'm sure it was a shocker.  I used to run the analysis tool - until it said we used over $900 in gas for our 2 cars each month.  Then I gave up
  • We're in the same boat.  I love Quicken, but sometimes it can be a little TOO accurate for our own good!!  :)
  • Oh.. I'm glad we've never done this.  If it was up to me, we'd eat out every night  :)
  • Oh geez! We rarely eat out but DH already tracks my "random Target purchases" and its not pretty!
