Today's random questions of the day...

1. If you could be any person on this board for a day, who would you be and why?

2. If you were on a deserted island and you could only bring three things (no other people or transportation off), what would you bring?

3. What are your views on celebrities obcession with plastic surgery?

    2. If you were on a deserted island and you could only bring three things (no other people or transportation off), what would you bring?

    3. What are your views on celebrities obcession with plastic surgery?

    1. I like being me.  I think it would be fun to be someone (anyone) in a different geographical location just to see more of the world.

    2. (assuming there's ample food an water) Unending source of power, source of communication (laptop with internet, web-enabled phone, etc), my bedroom mattress.

    3. I believe that God gave us our bodies just the way they should be.  That said, certain quality of life surgeries I'm not opposed to, like breast reduction.

The Today show did a special a while back about teens and plastic surgery detailing the body image/long-term teasing issues that were corrected through surgery.  The boy whose nose was exceptionally disproportionate to his face and was teased starting at age 5 or so had a rhinoplasty, started a new school and felt like he had a new life.

People like Heidi Montag who become obsessed and think that their oversized breasts are too small need psychological help, in my opinion.

  • 1. If you could be any person on this board for a day, who would you be and why? Someone that lives somewhere tropical.

    2. If you were on a deserted island and you could only bring three things (no other people or transportation off), what would you bring? A computer that has access to the internet, my puppies and lots of suncreen.

    3. What are your views on celebrities obcession with plastic surgery? Plastic surgery is a personal choice. I can't judge. However having an obsession about something that makes you look like Michael Jackson makes me sad.

  • If you could be any person on this board for a day, who would you be and why?
If I'm the only one to actually answer this, I'm gonna seem like a creeper! lol  If it was just for a day, I wouldn't mind being KeyRyn.  She's so sweet, in the same time zone, and getting to go shopping for cute baby stuff!

If you were on a deserted island and you could only bring three things (no other people or transportation off), what would you bring?
Toilet paper, my favorite pillow, and the puppies. =]

What are your views on celebrities obsession with plastic surgery?
I don't think it's necessary, but it's their choice.  However, it's very difficult to tell girls today that they're perfect the way they are when people who are already gorgeous continue to "tweak" their natural beauty.

  • Don't worry denim, I'll be creepy with you.

    1. I'd want to be EDK since we agree on most things so I wouldn't have to change my opinions.  Plus, not going to lie, I think it would be pretty cool to be a football player's wife for a day.

    2. I'd bring a mirror to use to try to reflect the sun and get someone's attention plus try to generate enough heat to start a fire, a Brita water purifier, and a blanket to keep warm at nights.

    3. I personally think it's giving a bad image to young girls.  To me, it's pretty much saying that even if you're beautiful there is still room for improvements and I don't think that is a message that we should be giving to young girls.

  • 1. I think I would be...Emily in Chile (is she still around)?  She's gorgeous and lives abroad.

    2. I would bring a computer with an internet card and my ipod.  I could survive with internet and music. (I'm assuming I could forage for food??)  haha

    3. I think most of it is stupid.  However, I've had a few friends have plastic surgery for health reasons (boob reduction, blocked sinus so she had nose job, etc.).  Those I think are fine, but I hate the people who have terrible body image and get surgery to make themselves "look better." If you hated yourself before, you will more than likely not like yourself after.  These women need to just work on self-esteem and empowerment, not surgery.

  • Thanks, denimdarling! :-D You should wait to switch bodies with me in second tri after all these hormones have calmed down. LOL

Emilyinchile because, well, she lives in Chile. Plus she has a freakin' supermodel for a husband ;)

    2. If you were on a deserted island and you could only bring three things (no other people or transportation off), what would you bring?

An infinite supply of food, my iPod touch and a wifi signal to use it.

    3. What are your views on celebrities obcession with plastic surgery?

Clearly if you are obsessed with going under the knife all the time, you lack love and self worth for yourself. They have much bigger issues than how big their nose is or if they have a big butt (and I love my big butt!)

  • 1. If you could be any person on this board for a day, who would you be and why?  ballandchain, she cracks me up.

    2. If you were on a deserted island and you could only bring three things (no other people or transportation off), what would you bring?

    1. Infinite supply of sunscreen

    2. Ipod

    3. a drink mix with some little umbrellas :)

    3. What are your views on celebrities obcession with plastic surgery?

To each their own, but I do agree with other pp, I think that it is going to have a great impact on girls growing up.

    3. What are your views on celebrities obcession with plastic surgery?

    1. I would probably be EmilyinChile or EDK. There are absolutely gorgeous and both live in different countries.

    2. I would bring a water purifier, warm blankets and my entire library of books so I wouldn't get bored.

    3. To each his own. The ones like Ashlee Simpson who get minor surgeries to correct something that actually DOES make them look better, I have no problem with. But the ones like Heidi Montag and Joan Rivers, just grind my gears. Like pp's have said, they need psychological help.

However, if given the opportunity, I would probably have a few surgeries to correct some things on myself too, but I would NEVER go to the extent that some have gone.

  • 1) Huh - I don't know who I'd be....

    2) As long as I don't have to worry about food, I would say a computer with internet and fully loaded with movies and music, a lifetime supply of drinkable water, and a lifetime supply of matches.

    3) I think it's sad - the obsession at least. If someone has one or two things done to make themselves feel better or look better, whatever, but as soon as they start to look like barbies (plastic) it gets a little freaky.

  • 1) MISA- haha I was already going to say you! I would love to be an accountant and be super smart. Plus it would be fun to be in New England for a day! And like she said we agree on everything!

    2) Laptop, fire supplies, a pillow

    3) I watched the Hills last night and it made me so sad. I think it is scary and the wrong message for little girls. Heidi Montag needs to go to some sort of self-image rehabilitation. I can totally understand getting a few things done, 10 things at once it where it gets obsessive.
