Re: Wednesday Whine
I am SO tired of working for the state. After 18 months of furloughs and a 14.2% paycut, our furloughs are ending and we're going back to work full time. Here is the wonderful plan the governator has cooked up!
o 5% increase in all employees? monthly pension contribution to CalPERS; - Translated = 5% paycut
o 5% reduction in all salaries; - = Another 5% paycut
o Additional 5% reduction in all salaries in exchange for 1 day/mo. personal leave; - = Another 5% paycut
o 5% departmental salary savings by reducing size of State workforce. = Layoffs
So after enduring a year and a half of furloughs, hoping to get at least a little bit of our money back, we are now taking the same amount of pay cuts, but we have to go back to work those 3 days / month, which translates into more gas money, more days at my crappy job (that I am thankful for because it pays the bills, but bores me out of my little brain!), and a seriously unhappy Lena. At least right now I can tolerate it because we have 3 day weekends... but after June, not so much.
I think my motivation to work will decrease a lot more in the upcoming months.

L is still sick and wheezing. I really, really don't want to deal with pneumonia again. He's not acting sick whatsoever and has no fever so I'm praying it's nothing major

Awww, feel better L! Sorry he is still sick!
Hope he gets better.

It's pretty new. I want to say maybe a year old, so we didn't want to get rid of it. We never envisioned still being in our apt when we had our first but things don't always go as planned.
could it be allergies?
Thanks. I also have the Post 9/11 GI Bill I'm hoping will kick in soon. That will help with costs but for now I have to pay out of pocket.

Dh's work is inconsistent, I wouldn't feel comfortable right now buying a house. He had two shoots canceled last month as they had storms in the Midwest. That really hurt us.
Also he is 1099, so we would need to show 3 years of his salary and the last two years he was only doing the film work on the side, as he had a full time job. My student loans are insane, so we don't qualify for much just based on my income.
I totally understand that! DH's first full-time, non 1099 job was this year (in 5 years together). Our SLs are off the hook too- the only way we were able to actually buy our house was with my parents as the co-borrowers (hated to do it but had to get out of Colton- we were burglarized, cars kept getting broken into, people chasing me when I got home after dark- not a fun place to be). So right now we're going through the process of actually buying the house for ourselves- what a PITA btw!
I should probably already know this, but I have a sieve for a memory- Is your H a photographer or a videographer?
That, and asthma, is what I suspect. whever he gets a stuffy/runny nose, He gets a cough and post nasal drip and wheezes. This is just the longest its lasted.
